Thread regarding H&R Block layoffs

Major closing announced at H&R Block

H&R Block is closing 400 of its smaller offices.

The company claims that no jobs will be cut as part of the closings, but I'm pretty sure nobody is buying that.

Even if everybody is given a job at other H&R Block locations nearby (as they claim the case will be), how long before some are pushed out?

They only have about 2300 full time employees and 85,000 part time seasonal employees. They’re terminated at the end of every tax season and rehired again around October. Saying they won’t be laying anyone off is true (because they’re all already terminated) BUT whose to say they won’t cut back on how many they bring back next season and how many new tax professionals they recruit this year. Just another half lie from them.

They know with the tax law changes their days are numbered.
