Thread regarding Hallmark Cards layoffs

It’s not just the internet, when you add .55 cents for postage it adds to the cost. I just bought Valentines cards for my family members and it was almost $40 before postage. There is nothing like receiving a card in the mail. Shows a lot more thought and caring than an email.

Some Karen's Hallmark stores are closing being that they are independent stores .. However Amy's which are corporate Stores will remain open in Ohio.

Kay’s Hallmark is in the middle of closing right now in Arlington Heights (Fort Worth) Texas. Everything is 30% off. Lots of glass Christmas ornaments, various cards, and party supplies. They do not know their last date, but appears to remain open at least through the end of 2019.

The last Hallmark store between San Jose and Ventura, CA ~ in San Luis Obispo ~ is closing in August, 2019. SO bummed!!

Two ( 2 ) stores in Calgary have closed already, and the one in Cross Iron Mills by the end of may. Hallmark says in a report that they are expanding. Where?

I know of two Hallmark stores in central Alabama that are closing. One in Alabaster was liquidated several weeks ago. Moments ago, I received an email informing me the one in Inverness is closing. A friend just informed me one in Alexander City is closing, as well. I wonder what is up with all of that? Disturbing, as I buy all of my cards from Hallmark.

In Virginia, the Hallmarks stores in Culpepper and Centreville are closing in 2019. The signs are up now.

This article from a national retailers magazine was recently publish, although the closings were quietly announced and begun to happen in 2018.

Once a large division of Hallmark, what’s left of corporate gold crown stores in Canada will be sold or closed by year end putting hundreds out of work!

It’s sad news as corporate stores offer somewhat different products and (and sometimes services) than a independently owned location. (In the USA, corporate stores can be identified as “Amy’s Hallmark” or “Matthews Hallmark”)

Amazing that Hallmark still exists in 2018 really.
