Thread regarding Oceaneering International Inc. layoffs

Asset Integrity Leadership

Over the past four years the AI Management has gone from proactive healthy management from people who climbed through the ranks, who made money and communicated with staff. To a bunch of folks who have neither worked in or understand the AI business. The current Management are based in Houston or Norway, where we have almost no profitable business, but more importantly they fail to understand that our AI business is really 75% NDT.

If only OI Senior Management could turn the clock back, but as normal they will bury their heads in the dirt.

The new SVP has no real experience in Inspection & NDT which is around 80% of the business, this appointment is not a smart move rather like the last SVP.
Why do we keep hiring ex-BH people who have no experience in our business?

I understand that AI have hired another SVP who will be based in Houston. Great however, we have no real business in Houston or for that matter in the US.
Another recipe for ‘success’?
I think not!

So Steve Barrett has been appointed ‘interim SVP’ for AI. This shows good solid step forward , give the job to someone who is halfway through the door to retirement.
AI will be sold off or just left to wither & die.
Disappointing decision from the boys on C Suite.

Letting good people go today in Aberdeen, keeping the donkeys but what is new!
When will our Senior Management realise that the AI SVP is the root cause of our decline?

To make matters worse, in the UK they have just hired a Lead (who has an Integrity background) to run the business in UK, Norway & Angola. Sounds good, but around 75% of the business is NDT/Inspection, not Integrity..................then we wonder why we are losing money and struggling to develop the business.

He’ll stay until AI have lost the BP contact, then he will be removed. Any normal Company would act now, but OI is no normal Company nowadays.

AI ‘only’ lost $2.4m this quarter........how the current SVP is surviving is beyond me.

Totally agree with the BP comment, AI simply don’t have the strength and depth to retain this contract in 2020. Which is a crying shame given the effort that’s gone into this job over the past 20 + years.

I doubt that OI will have a AI division after 2020, because by then the BP contract will be history.

It's the current crop of senior management in Houston that have caused all of this...
