Today, at the corporate office in San Francisco, Gymboree cut all their employees. All badges and laptops were collected upon the announcement. Employees were shown the door immediately and were told they would only be paid till the end of the week. No severance pay was offered at the time. It was not handled professionally at all in the time leading up to this with all the news that had been in the media previously.

Shaz Kahng really did a bang up job coming in as the CEO last year. It was clear her goal was to clean house and sell off the brands and not to rebuild the company and the culture. She had no compassion for any of the employees right off the bat. Never tried to engage with anyone from who had been there t get any perspective. All that was told Iin December not long after taking over and right before Christmas was employees would only be paid for any PTO. No severance pay and being shown the door immediately yesterday is an additional slap in the face. Can’t imagine she is really fit for any real executive level jobs after seeing he way she worked here. The whole story of a customer calling her personal cell phone expressing concern over the company is such a joke. I’m sure she will be ok though. Maybe she will write another book.
People who were just laid off don't care too much about the professionalism of it, they just want your a-- out of there so they can go home.
