Thread regarding BMW layoffs

BMW Layoffs in 2019? No cuts planned for now!

It's quiet and not cuts are taking place at BMW. However, the whole industry is in commotion, we are all aware of massive cuts at GM (number vary and depending how you count they can be in 4,000 to 15,000 employee range) and Ford is about to embark on a global purge (I think they are targeting about 4K too). This year (jan/Feb) there were cuts at Fiat Chrysler and Nissan, both here in North America.

I am not sure what's going on with other companies, specifically Honda and Toyota, they are always slow to pull the trigger though. At the same time, BMW had a warning back in July when a letter was sent to the Department of Commerce noting that if Tariffs are applied there will be impact on sales and production volumes, layoffs at BMW would follow.

Now, things can improve, tariffs may never be applied, etc. But the fact is, the whole industry is in commotion and I would not be surprised if a department or two in New Jersey is to be affected by some kid of redundancy.

Anyhow, good luck and all the best - I hope you have an uneventful year.
