Thread regarding Harris Corp. layoffs

It seems to be over - for now

Not too many people were laid off this time, but I'm convinced this was just the start and we'll be seeing much, much more of this at Harris in the following weeks and months.

This will take a toll on many of us mentally. I really wish this whole thing was already over, but I guess an agonizing wait it is...

Rumor around Rodes is that Brown, Fox, and Gattle are all out.

This week multiple VPs, Directors, and some other people have been let go. We will see a new org. chart on Monday..

Your assumption is correct - first round of lay-offs is all about director and above. Once they disclose a new org. structure, they will look into rank-in-file employees. I think the plan is to divest the entire business, make the new entity a relatively small company to prepare it for a merge with another company - a defense contractor.

I heard that the entire Quality Group at L3 Corporate has been eliminated.

My hunch is this round of exits before 1 July is for high level management who are probably getting a nice transitional package. Look for rank-and-file cuts (including the much publicized "significant divestitures") to take place over the next few months.

More lay-off were on L3 side. This is just the beginning. There will more spinoffs and divestures down the road. After all said and done, it will be acquired by Boeing or another big defense contractor.

I only heard of 14 in Palm Bay, mainly management. New org chart will come out Monday and we'll see what they do with the rest of the organization in the next few weeks.
