The second round of USEC layoffs took place in October of this year (still 2013). Over 100 workers were hit, both union and non-union positions were eliminated. Mid October, we notified over 20 United Steel Workers they will be losing jobs by EOM. Roughly 75 non-union workers got cut earlier in Oct. The 3rd round of USEC layoffs will take place sometimes in Q1 of 2014. Things are getting heated here at USEC, people are simply pissed, many jobs could have been saved. Overall our company is struggling to define a viable future in the uranium enrichment sector.
