They could easily reduce Tucker, Sunrise and Cold/EOR to a minimum number of staff given they plan to spend almost nothing on these assets. They’ll never compete for capital in the new org.

HR will finish with the Jan 26th crowd (except for those who don't sign) on Feb 5th. Next round will be Level 8, 9, 10 Individual Contributors on Tuesday February 9th. Do not expect advanced notice this time. Only those affected will be contacted in Teams by their Manager. Target 400 employees.

Whatever happened to the concept of a working leader? Every single manager in this company does nothing but sit in meetings all day. What a waste of money.

As one of those 'high $$ Engineering Staff' released January 26th, I'm so happy not to have to rise through the pecking order of the new 'combined' group. Already received three leads for contracting opportunities.

There will be a more rigorous review of each department now with new managers reviewing work of their subordinates and reporting all to up top. Consolidation of work drafts will be presented and should be completed by this coming spring (March or April). But this work will continue throughout the year with another phase. So buckle up and do good work folks.

Right and as we get cut again and again and told to do more work who gets the retention bonuses? Not us, just the management. They ask us to identify savings, they ask us to cover and work harder to make up for all the laid off workers and THEY get the bonuses. I’ve already been approached to ask what else I can take on even though I’ve been picking up extra work from the other 8 rounds of layoffs. People are going to snap. I’m sick of it and our management. How much can they abuse people and then just tell us we are lucky to have a job while they take all the rewards?

Worth noting some of the Cenovus floors in Brookfield are already completely empty.

Well this was Phase 1 and two more phases are planned. The Phase 2 is/was planned for end of Feb or early March. Alex said in the news that layoffs will continue this year and will streach into 2022. Another fact for everyone is to consider is amount of spaces that new company is preparing for combined workers, not much 3 floors being renovated (unless they decide to expand on this).

“There is always small cut here and there beside the big one they tell the general public.”

March won’t be small.....expect the same as January

Done fool yourself thinking you are safe, they will cut from any and every direction. Its not about what work you do or how busy you are, its just about meeting headcount requirement. From my group some of busiest people are gone and we are told to cover up. Its going to transition from mental burnout to physical burnout

I have zero trust in cenovus/husky management. They are selfish people.

From the looks of it ... and my guess. Will be majority service units (IT, Supply Chain, HR, Finance, Accounting). From the first round it looks like only members cut from these teams were higher ups. On the business side, there were a lot more cuts (high $$ engineering staff) those are probably all done now.
