Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

How do the rest of you feel?

I am stressed, feel tired all the time, and have lost all my motivation. Everyone in my immediate surroundings feels the same. I drag myself to work, then I am constantly switching between panicking about being laid off, and being numb and incapable of concentrating on work. How long is this sh-tshow going to last? We’ll mentally mostly be useless blobs by the time it's over (if it ever ends).

It’s awful. I was hoping to get laid off at the beginning of Q1. But I survived. So I’m staying remote and hanging around until the next round of layoffs, hoping for severance like literally 80% of the people still here.

For the record I have one person on my team who still LOVES working here. And as you might guess, he’s insufferable.

If your unhappy, depressed and miserable - Dell is the reason why!
The company is going to get better anytime soon and after all...its just a job!
You deserve better, GET ANOTHER JOB! Most of the Talent has already left the organisation! Don't be the last one to get off the Titanic, there may not be any life boats left!

@OP+1rhMWEaN I feel the very same.
Its a horrible place to be and anyone that actually enjoys working here has to be mental.

Why wouldn’t you leave then? That’s not meant to discredit you. It’s an honest question. Life is too short. What about working for Dell is worth being miserable?

After 10+ years of caring about my job, terrific reviews, awards and hoping to grow my career further it is freeing to finally not give a flying s@$%. Remote and no office to go to within several hundred miles. So not "unwilling" to become hybrid try "impossible". My managers are acting like this is no big deal. They are quietly firing remote workers. No longer respect them or this company. If they treat loyal employees like this what does that say about their brand and loyalty to customers? Shame. Looking for something better and well...the bar has been set pretty low with this f'd up policy.

It might not be any consolation, but you aren’t alone. I feel so depressed.

Peter Gibbons: The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care.

Bob Porter: Don't... don't care?

Peter Gibbons: It's a problem of motivation, all right? Now if I work my a-s off and Initech ships a few extra units, I don't see another dime, so where's the motivation? And here's something else, Bob: I have eight different bosses right now.

Bob Slydell: I beg your pardon?

Peter Gibbons: Eight bosses.

Bob Slydell: Eight?

Peter Gibbons: Eight, Bob. So that means that when I make a mistake, I have eight different people coming by to tell me about it. That's my only real motivation is not to be hassled, that and the fear of losing my job. But you know, Bob, that will only make someone work just hard enough not to get fired.
