Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Can we boycott returning to the office?

I personally think it’s way too soon to go back to the office in Texas. I personally am high risk and the fact that they would do this after the mask mandate being lifted is disgusting to me. Is there anyway we can boycott or change this? People haven’t even had the opportunity to really get vaccinated and the majority of Texans are not vaccinated and vaccines are not available on campus either.

@1qhz+19Kf8BWp if they are really treating everyone’s case as if they did not get covid at work and we absolutely should leak this to business insider.

If you are high risk you could have already been vaccinated

If you are an energy worker you could have already been vaccinated

If you are afraid to leave your house you should check out the EHAP program and talk to a psychologist

Wrong. Check the facts before you call others unethical. In Midland they have been vaccinating energy workers for weeks now. It is a criteria on the registration form that qualifies you.

So as you said get educated and quit spreading lies.

Please explain to me why you highly doubt it. You want me to provide the Form 315 MOH sent me? To make it worse the wording on the form is “Potentially work related” and they put no. I have yet to hear of someone who has received a form that doesn’t say no. Their criteria for yes is bogus. Basically to say yes you have to have sat less than six feet from someone for over 15 minutes with no masks on which no one is doing. Guess what the six feet and masks rule isn’t perfect. Especially the way people wear the masks improperly and take them off when in a conference room.

I caught it at work at a site that is not Houston. I know I caught it at work because I had only been at work and live alone. I am young so it was no big deal. MOH put it down as not work related. What a joke.

I had literally been nowhere but work for a month before I was sick.

You may need to leave The Woodlands to get vaccinated. I know, it is scary but don’t worry you can do it.

Seriously. All of us at site has been back for months now and the cases on site are treated incredibly seriously. I'd expect the same thing on campus.

All you people complaining about coming back "early" are just paranoid. Wear a mask and maintain your distance >6 ft. Most office work is at a desk anyway. You're more likely to catch it going to HEB versus working on campus.

Kwitcherbellyachin'. If the Company says they're open then they're open. Discuss any specific and real health concerns with MOH for an exception.

Texas never truly locked down. Its always been dangerously open during the pandemic with very few exceptions.

The only saving grace was that some companies independently decided to WFH or take certain precautions to reduce infections.

Now we are starting to take even that small sliver of hope away before most people can be vaccinated. Some of you are saying energy professionals are critical workers and should have been vaccinated by now...this is not supported hy any facts. Phases 1a and 1b are for healthcare workers, seniors, and those with pre-existing conditions.

If you somehow got the vaccine already in the US without meeting those conditions, then you likely violated the guidelines. This is unethical and suggesting others to do the same is shameful.

So many people here have had so much of the kool aid and will call you lazy for not wanting to come back. I asked the same thing a few months back and many on here called me lazy. Bitter truth is if you don’t want to go back you stand to be pipd. Stop worrying and deal with it or find another organization that you fit with more. My friends in CVX haven’t even been asked to come back but are they failing due to no f2f interaction? No

Yes, we should try to avoid going back to campus and prepare for much worse. Read this:

Houston just reached 2000 deaths according to the data we should be forced to congregate dangerously in an office when we can work at home and get the work done just fine. Houston, where all five variations of COVID-19 exists, should be the last place in the country to go back to office working. Maybe it’s because I’m not from Texas but boy are Texans reckless!

Why shouldn't Dallas replace you with someone in India? There are people here willing to come to campus and collaborate... If it's unnecessary for your role, or you're unwilling, then we should offshore your job and save the $$$.

Last year around May when our management asked who's returning back to the office, some said they are hesitant. I am one of those who hesitated, and found myself on PIP in July. There were comments made on this board who suggested that survey made was used to determine who to PIP. I am high-risk health-wise and I also speculated that my hesistancy to return to the office was my downfall. Just saying.

  1. Going back to “normal life” when things are on the decline but not nearly in control is exactly how spikes happen in the first place. If you’re willing to sacrifice your life for this job, have at it, but some of us care about living.

I went to the mall and grocery yesterday and they were unbelievable packed. Difficult to find a parking spot. It's like we're back to normal. Shouldn't work return to normal as well? Statistics are showing a steady decline in infections. And numbers don't lie.

Every now and then, my dept at EM shares a link to Memorial Hermann vaccination opportunities. First come first serve and they fill up after 10 minutes. Most of my team got ours in early Feb. When I went for my shot, I saw many EM emps there.

I’m with you, only 7% of Texans are vaccinated. It’s dangerous and you know if you get Covid in the office they are going to cover it up like you got it somewhere else. Safety first.

So many trolls here, o&g professionals are critical workers and by now, you should have gotten a memo that you should get vaccinated asap. You don't have to wait until you're 65, now move it! Chop chop!

Shame. As O&G professionals, we should lead by showing our neighbors, friends, families that we're excited to drive as much as we can and accelerate demand for gas. Meaning we should be heroes by putting our lives against COVID in the name of oil and gas. Stop wearing your PJ's working from home and return to the office asap!

It isn’t hard to get vaccinated. Me and most I know who are energy workers have done it and we had to wait because we aren’t high risk. If you are high risk you could have done it by now. Look online. You can schedule an appointment.
