Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Teaming

Surprised at how much questions are asked about “teaming” during townhalls. Stop asking about it and wasting precious townhall time! Those who are confused about the concept either are haven’t been good teammates or just don’t know how to become one. Stop it already!

@2ixb that is the best thing i've read on here all day. but do you have any courage to actually go and tell the subsurface VP? or even his direct reports?

It's actually not a bad concept to drive home with some of our UC and ETC leaders. Our head of subsurface knows nothing about teaming. He gives kudos to business units that fall in line, and say yes sir when they're asked to participate in piloting some digital tool or some UC process that is not driving the business. But when he's not looking, the BU steps back from the busy work and does what it needs to do to make money. Just from the org design itself, the CTC looks at being able to accomplish everything out of Houston. The layoffs happening in the BU locations will be huge. People like our subsurface VP have been away from the real business so long that he actually believes that you can use the same tools across multiple business units across multiple asset classes. They should be focused on assurance. They should not be focused on dictating tools to use. Geagea and his direct reports with all the kingdom building just don't really know how to make money anymore. They only know how to spend money and do so at the expense of laying off BU personnel.

What book will they shove down our throats next year? If we ever return, I should walk around the office like a preacher in church with a copy of “Team of Teams” preaching the good news to all the unbelievers.

Funny, “Teaming” comes from the book Team of Teams which is literally about war in Iraq and how to effectively beat an enemy that isn’t organized or predictable (think start ups, companies that don’t even exist yet).

Also, do we really get anything new out of town halls? They just read to the policy from HR on the transformation website.

Teaming is where we all update our GO-400 and CDP, post for jobs, log into MS TEAMS video chat, update out background to a beach scenery, and HR fires us. #Teaming In Any Environment

Teaming will devolve into Reaming because no one is going to know which master to keep happy in the new structure.

Another "fresh catch phrase" to toss around the office and another method for tossing company cash out of the window. This company is literally, yes literally addicted to new fad strategies, catch phrases, programs, cool slogans, meaningless marketing drivel and this that or the other "shiny object" in the business world. Quit all the f'n messing around. I pray that we get a truly hard-nose, no bs, results matter, bottom line priority CEO in charge for the next 10 years. 75% in this company need a hard smack of a wake up call about surviving in this cut throat, cyclical and unforgiving O&G industry. Quit pandering to social movements, special interest and political pressures. Leadership needs to run this business like we are in an economic war because ladies and gentlemen, WE ARE, on several fronts.

Excellent point 1xoj. They must have forgotten to use the “Digital Energy” slide instead of the old Human Energy one.

I prefer the "Human Energy Company" slide at the beginnings and end of the new reduced head count org chart.
