Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I miss my co workers

Can't wait to be back in the full house! Some of you shy from gatherings. I like them and I get more work done when surrounded by those who can pose a challenge.

Sounds like a boomer narcopath. Lives to work.

Most were corporate simps/brown nosers who believed in the corporate propaganda-the "family" nonsense, snacks, pizza, etc.

Work "wives" and "husbands" is also stupid, disgusting, and immoral.

Yes yes, back to lower productivity, constant interruptions by people not in my work group either actively wanting to ask about my job, what I do, what their numbers are, or can I fix this or that for them (despite not being IT) since they know I've got broad knowledge; or passively yelling at customers, talking loud on conference calls, clacking away at their loud keyboard, sneezing, coughing, runny nose so you can infect everyone with it...

Back to spending tons of money on gas, and a stressful commute arriving in a bad mood after the commute, getting home wiped out emotionally, physically, and mentally from the commute plus the day spent dealing with the constant social drain to be around people who are not colleagues, or remotely related to the work I do. Spending money on food that I have to keep cool or worry about it being stolen. Spending money on coffee because the center coffee is gross and my own won't last long enough. To dealing with absolutely disgusting people in the bathroom. Back to having my car frequently scratched or dented by jerks who don't let anyone know they hit your car while backing into or pulling out of a spot. All that extra expense at the same time inflation is going sky high driving up the cost of everything while we know our merit increase will likely not match inflation.

Yes, sounds completely wonderful (/sarc)

I haven't been in the office in over a decade. I do not miss people coming up to my cube to chat.

Nothing like being in the middle of research, have someone come to my cube, waste 15 minutes chatting, then I have to spend a other 15 minutes reorienting myself to find where I had left off.

With chat and being remote, I can just ignore the IMs.

Was remote before COVID and have zero interest in any kind of "return". I honestly haven't had much problem with Charles to date, but this decision moved me from 'indifferent' to 'actively opposed'. The only good news here is that he will only be with us another year or two, and I can survive just about any kind of stupidity for a short duration. I'll strategically use my PTO to minimize RTO days, work odd office hours to avoid distractions, and wait for sanity to return to leadership when the next CEO is named. Then I can go back to max productivity.

Extroverts are the ones who are going crazy WFH. They feel "cooped up".

Introverts are in heaven WFH. No distractions. No stress.

But sadly, extroverts are more likely to be represented in the management ranks, and even if not in management extroverts are "more visible". This is why there is such a divergence between what management wants, versus what employees want regarding WFH.

I'm glad the arrangement is going to work for you. It doesn't work for everyone. If we were all given a choice, we could all be happy. Those who enjoy the office dynamics would get that (though admittedly to a lesser extent because others would stay home). And those who find their productivity increase at home could continue to enjoy their comfort too. Too bad it's not about creating the best environment for each employee...

A challenge to what? You’re part of a team.

Again, a lot of you seem to have co-workers you have seen. I have none, just voices on the Skype/teams......

yes, back in the old days, some 10-15 years ago, I used to see my team face-to-face, shoot, we used to party and hang out, drink and have fun, but them days is gone.

For the neurodivergent among us that were remote prior to Covid it’s a lot more then just shyness. These people are being forced to either disclose what can be embarrassing mental illness that can legitimately damage their career prospects or sacrifice their mental health. Just another examples of neurotypical executives forcing everyone to comply with their opinion of what constitutes “normal” social and workplace dynamics…. And they say autistic people are the ones that lack empathy… such BS
