I absolutely loved my time with AT&T and acquired an incredible set of skills and training in Product Development, Product Management, Scaled Agile, Security, Digital Marketing, BI, the list goes on and on. By the time I was trained up, funding started vanishing, many of my peers were laid off, and I saw the writing on the wall, especially for locations outside of TX, CA, and NJ.
That's what led me to look outside AT&T where I quickly found that I was way way way underpaid for the work I was doing. I wanted to stay and tried to stay at AT&T but essentially doubled my pay by going to a new company.
I would certainly consider going back but it's going to take a while to rebuild the hardworking, groundbreaking innovation arm that AT&T once had. I'm confident they will return to that but they need to take a deep hard look at companies like GE where innovation stopped, they got rid of their true creative talent who understand culture, art, and innovation. You can't "invent" without the right bones in the org. AT&T, it's time to get back to your roots, make new products that everyone in America wants and that makes lives easy and fun!

I left on my own and I come back here to hopefully keep new employees away from the nwo cesspool att and make them realize how toxic att is and to run far far far away. They will be much better off to not waste time at att. Congrats to the op you won’t regret it I am with a company that is growing and have an internal private cloud and reaping the benefits with plenty of opportunity internally to do cutting edge stuff while making more money.
To the poster who is claiming we are “gloating”, it’s not floating, chief. We still have memories of better days at AT&T, and we still have friends there. We come back here to see how things are going, because AT&T was a big part of our lives. We didn’t want to leave AT&T. AT&T changed and left us.
I think it's great to hear positive stories of our peers leaving for better opportunities...it's not gloating at all. Maybe it will give someone else hope and encouragement that there is life after this sh– hole!
I find it weird that people who are leaving on their own terms feel the need to come in here and, for lack of a better term, gloat.
I had the same experience earlier this year. AT&T was good for most of my 20 years (well, the last 5 kinda s—ed), but I am so very glad to be out of there, and at a growing, thriving company, with no layoffs on the horizon.
