Good luck man, I’m also in SPNS BU (I think - so many reorgs) and over 60, so my clock is ticking very loudly.

My former boss who is laid off a year and a 1/2 ago texted me. She had asked me if I was impacted by the layoffs taking place today. I have not heard anything but has anybody else?

What is the total number of layoffs today?

The official word I saw from someone at the Director level was that they "as usual" are not sharing names (obviously) or numbers of impacted people across Cisco or the BU.

Somewhere I missed the transition between announcing overall numbers and going full-on stealth mode. It's nice that they told us that all the announcements (in the US) were completed and to actively reduce rumors or other unproductive activities, but not sharing overall numbers is just going to cause people to look for rumors of how many.

When you're part of a 5,500 or 6,500 person LR, you know it was "just business" and you can talk to it at job interviews when the interviewer asks why you left Cisco. But when you don't know if it was 20 people or 2,000 people, it makes it harder to convince prospective employers that it was a mass restructuring event and not a my-team-couldn't-get-it-done-so-we-were-let-go correction.

That’s going to take 2 days of layoff meetings.
So I’d expect emails for another 24 hours

6000 is a huge huge number. If it is true then why not in news yet ?

Number is way higher than 6k.

Try doubling it and then some.

A friend was just laid off this morning in California. They said 6000 are being laid off today due to LR.

I was impacted last year and LR's have unfortunately become the norm at Cisco. MGT always has the cut cost to invest story, but it is very hard on employee morale when you know you are 1 bad qtr away from LR event.

The silver lining is you are all talented and will land somewhere eventually. Take the time and connect with family and friends and invest in building out your skillset for the future. It can be frustrating at times but you will land on your feet !!

6000 or 600 ? Because 6000 is a big number and it should have been announced in news

Lay-off’s tomorrow is correct news. Just now my neighbor who’s is a long time Cisco employee (15 years) said - that he was informed he is safe from tomorrow’s riff and close to 6000 positions are getting eliminated

It may be the big date, IDK but some were told last week in CX so it's already started.

don't let a layoff discourage you
spend time your friends, family and the people you trust or care deeply. enjoy your severance money and time off. take a small vacation or break, clear your head the best you can. come back and carefully brush up on your skills. most important, don't give up. layoffs are not a reflection on your skills or performance, it's just corporate politics. you will find a new job, and it will be better than the last. hang in there my friends. move forward and don't look back.

Just got a “Pulse Engagement Survey” pushed onto me. Not a good sign - something definitely coming.

I love working for Cisco but this fear of layoffs every year is so stressful. There are so many rumors and we are looking for anything to give hope that our name is not on the list. Based on the past, if you are called into a meeting alone it is not a good sign, if your director makes an unannounced visit to the office, not a good sign and if a meeting is scheduled and you are not on the invite list it does not fare well. They also look at length of service to the company and age. The older people with lots of years of tenure generally speaking are the first to go. However with that being said there are people who have worked there for 20+ years and never been hit.

Any idea of what the LR package would include? How many months of pay and is it dependent on how long you've been at Cisco?

Agree. You know the kind of people that are there now they who have survived layoffs for ~10 yrs its another skill not the competence in work. Not saying of particular breed its not about that, But most now have become immune to having their good working coworker treated horribly and turn the other way so they can feed their family and sometimes make the other one look bad so they can keep their job. Its a different skill set, company is making money off the hard work of the engineers done 10-15 yrs ago and acquisitions , now its just politics money will come in anyway for a few yrs for established product lines. They have to show profitability to the stock holders. You are not at all important in the grand scheme of things.
