Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

February Layoff Rumors

To start, I'm not the speculator that has been posting for the last year predicting layoffs every month.

I'm hearing the next round is likely coming in February. I won't claim this as definitive, I just want to share what I've heard. We all know there will be no additional reductions in 2020 so it seems plausible we'll see something in January or shortly after. It sounds like February is the target right now.

It makes sense that the only layoffs might be in back office jobs that aren’t affected by tax season.

Tax season will be extra busy with so many people having taken retirement distributions as well as selling securities to get money. 2009-2010 tax seasons were hell on Earth, I’d get home and down an entire beer before I took my jacket off.

I would not jump to this conclusion just yet. During tax season, there tend to be a flurry of activities plus we do not know how much additional businesses will be coming in too unless the layoffs pertain to the admin side. Seems other banks are laying off a lot of their own as well. Hard to tell how the investment industry will be impacted especially with the new guy in Office. With so much uncertainty, I cannot imagine early layoffs planning in the works.
