Anyone have any info on how AT&T’s Cloud offering is doing? Last I heard, it was plagued with problems, and the company is looking to move to Microsoft Azure Cloud.

it goes the way all things at T goes - introduce over priced and under powered - lament why it isn't selling then admit defeat and give up the market to someone else - T always skips this thing called work - they much prefer reorgs over real work
private cloud is the way to go but the means you have to have technical employees and actually want to keep them and give them benefits instead of a bunch of directors managing spreadsheets keeping track of outsourcing companies. azure and amazon get very expensive.
Of course there’s an AT&T Cloud. It’s called AIC - AT&T Integrated Cloud. It’s just been a failure. Improper design and implementation.
There has never been an “AT&T cloud” - not something att has, sells, uses. They are now using Azure after signing an agreement with MS.
Glad I bought Microsoft when Ballmer was given the boot. They have a great CEO now. I think their stock is up close to 1000% since new CEO took over about 7 or 8 years ago? Microsoft stock was flat for about 10 years under Ballmer. Compare that to Randall Stephenson leadership tenure! Wow, Randall really flopped! Worst CEO of the 21st century for sure. Unfortunately Stankey was his chief strategist. None of their strategy made sense. Direct TV, let's over pay billions for something they CANNOT sell now! What a waste.... Let's try to buy T Mobile, and because we are so smug, let's guarantee the owners of TMobile 4 BILLION CASH, if we can't get the deal approved... OOPS... 4 BILLION WASTED. Not to mention the time and attention of some many employees who worked on the deal. Randall Stephenson should be in jail for the way he steered T into the reef.
I retired last month after 20 years. The first dozen years were great. Once the starter with the H1Bs and outsourcing, the company went down the toilet (shocking, I know). I was stunned by the foolish decisions, made on a daily basis, regarding AT&T Cloud. The morning “Scrum” calls sounded like a cacophony of people with unintelligible accents, arguing over the days activities. So glad to be away from that mess. Best wishes to all.
Cloud migration of apps to MS Azure is in progress while app work goes on with ServiceNow which is on the IBM Cloud. It is like T is betting black and red because each is a multi-year effort and no one knows how either will go.

Disagree that it was a sales problem. AT&T leadership simply has no respect for technical talent. So the talent leaves T for where it is valued, shocker.
AT&T is left with politicians making technical decisions and third-rate body shops doing implementation. Is that combination going to beat Amazon?
Msft sales.people have CON-vinced (or maybe kickbacks)! to move so much to their Azure cloud,.even though long term costs will Definitely come in at a premium.
But the executives who make these decisions will.be.long time.gone when the supposed savings don't appear. Gotta love that stewardship.
Att is the proverbial whale of a customer for all these cloud vendors (azure, aws , don't get me started on a snowflake). But everyone of these vendors is licking their chops by tying T to multi-year contracts and more importantly to tying T to their proprietary cloud infrastructure..
It seems like the only few recent initiatives that have actually panned out for T are SDN, SD-WAN, and First Net. Pretty much everything thing else has crashed and burned. I worked on a platform called DCAE before I left. Talk about a piece of garbage cluster foo. Best of luck to those who remain at T.

Most executives in the company are so stupid they will not even realize how much Microsoft has ripped off the company until their sustaining budgets are blown in one or two quarters. Since we sold our data centers, Microsoft will be like a tapeworm in AT&T’s belly starving it of profits.
Working on moving an app to Azure, bumpy ride so far despite Microsoft experts saying that they have done tons of migrations. Teams are under significant pressure to move x number of apps by year end, quality suffers, nothing new to see here.
I can see the appeal of cloud base share infrastructure, cost savings in not have every Tom, D–k and Harry buying servers with 5% utilization to host their spreadsheet app. Garbage in, garbage out.
No one is paying attention to how MS will nickel and dime service cost post migration. T will finally learn why the customers are p-ss-d off when they see their bill.
