I am a 64 years old, 20 year IBM veteran, consistently with positive rating. Out of the blue my manager called to inform me that my services are no longer needed. 1 minute later I get an email with the severance details (lending me to believe this was planned).
I need to sign before I receive any severance and I am truly thinking of suing for ageism. I do not have any documentation supporting that theory but my manager had made derogatory remarks about my age, compensation level, etc.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, I am worried. At 64 what are the options out there. I would like to work for another 6 years or so
