Thread regarding Ford layoffs

My biggest regret.

Is not knowing about the existence of this website sooner!
I could have known about these damn layoffs months ago and jumped shipped while I was ahead.

I was literally enjoying my job so much I couldn't see the entire building collapsing around me.

My perspective was distorted because I had a really great manager who protected and shielded our team from all the BS but after he left I was disillusioned.

I thought people at Ford were like him
someone who truly cared about you not just as an employee but as a person.
turns out he was the exception and not the rule..

@1tvk,

This site may be depressing, but it is reality. If you are in Florida then you are cut off from reality. If you get cut in the next upcoming rounds hopefully you will be able to retire. I worked on-site for the past two years so, I have the knowledge what will happen. It is not good. Sticking your head in the sand is not a good idea.

I have zero clue what's going on in Dearborn or Michigan for that matter. I moved in 2020 during lockdowns, have been fully remote and only have came in a handful of times while visiting family and during the sale of our house, so I badged in and made appearances here and there, more so then others in my group. I remote into virtual machines on a VPN in Michigan. Moving to Florida to have some freedom & normalcy during lockdowns was the best decision we as a family made. I just heard about this site from others during last week's layoffs. It seems depressing and I will be staying away from this site. Do yourselves a favor, move away from the stranglehold of the Big 3 and stay off this site.

ok genius, in case you are completely oblivious to the massive campus transformation in Dearborn and Detroyt (ref ____ 80's movie), for all the building falling down there are state of the art replacements being erected (don't get too excited) all around us.

I had been reading Zerohedge for months. Many companies were cutting back and laying off people. I knew Ford was putting a priority on EVs but with rising interest rates I figured car sales would plummet. So I figured all areas of Ford except EV would get hit.

However, I figured it would be later in the summer.

@kqw+1noN4TSP where did you find that information out from?

Only reason why I even knew was some random guy posted in the #Random slack channel about Layoffs

I knew the layoffs were coming even without this website. But I thought my area would be spared.
