Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Anybody else has trouble sleeping?

Am I the only one scouring this site at 3am? I can't get myself to sleep no matter what I do, and I have to be up in three hours. Whether I get laid off tomorrow or not, this whole process has already taken its toll on my health. I wish it was already done with, whatever the result. I thing this anticipation is the worst. in any case, good luck everybody! I hope it's not as bed as we are expecting it to be.

I slept just fine, I've never had anxiety over RIFs.... it's not that I think I'm totally immune, it's just that I can see the positive in either outcome... the worse that VZ gets (former MCI here), the easier it is to see positive in a pink slip (especially with 35weeks of pay)

When the OS/ES position was eliminated in 2016, I was “spared,” but from that day until May 2017 I was simply waiting for my turn. I didn’t want to be laid off, and there are times I still wish I had fought harder to stay, but I never did shake the thought that my job isn’t secure. It was a miserable 6 months. It’s no way to live. Even if your job survives today, it’s hard to not feel like I did. I hope that you don’t experience that, but I would strongly recommend you get a good version of your resume out there, and start looking. You might just be surprised. As many managers told me, VZW is not the end all/be all of companies to work for. The benefits are good and the pay is high relative to the position, but, there are other similar opportunities out there.

I found one.

Good luck to all

Guys and gals. It's not normal if your job has a website like this. This should be proof enough. It's not what it was. Remember when you used to say you worked for Verizon and it was a proud statement!? Now you're worse off than a trigger finger Cop.

You're not alone. Got a lousy night's sleep last night also. Right on about affecting health. The constant stress hasn't been kind to me or my family. This isn't the first rodeo where i've been at risk for getting bucked to the dirt. The difference is I'm getting up in the age dept. with less tolerance for the crazee cluster f**k mgmt style. I'm thinking taking the red pill wasn't a good idea - probably going to wait for after the holidays and start looking for a blue pill unless my hand gets forced. Good luck.
