Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

@dq If you have mental health, depression, anxiety, light sensitivity issues, etc., you should fully expect them to come after you and challenge it. These ghouls think leadership is about control and flaunting their faux power, not creating a place where everyone can perform at their best.

@dq generally speaking, employers cannot legally revoke legitimate remote work accommodations if:
•it is still effective and reasonable
•there's no undue hardship to the company
•Associate performance is solid
•The revocation decision is basaed on bias, annoyance or a blanket "return to office" policy.

Now, if you have a legit accommodation and don't play ball to validate it, it could be terminated as these ADA protections require participation from both employer and employee.

If the company starts arbitrarily terminating valid remote work accommodations protected under the ADA, there will be lawsuits, and I will be one of them.

I wouldn’t try it, you’ll put a Scarlett letter on yourself. Not to mention, those who have to go into the office will start picking on you for every little thing. One man mentioned if he sees or hears kids at home with someone on zoom, he’s reporting them. Or not at their desk… be prepared for backlash from those in the office. ELT is creating us vs us instead of us vs them and they’ll sit back and laugh.

Not to mention, if they are anything like the other companies (which they will be), they will start to lawyer up soon and provide ADA accommodations that are in office only. They don’t HAVE to allow remote according to how the law is written. Eventually, they will re review all the ADA and find a way to get them all back in the office with some other kind of accommodation.

By 2028, all those HBA outside the zip code will also be asked to move closer or be let go/find a new job. That isn’t just those in 1.5 hours of St Louis or Tempe, that means those living states away too.

Wells did it, Stifel did it… including removing ADA accommodations for mental health reasons. It is all going to be in office only or you don’t have a job at Edward Jones anymore in the next 2-3 years

@bb I have an anchored cube now because of an ergonomic accommodation -- the standard black office chairs wreck my back... at 6'4, they simply do not fit so my chiropractor filled out the firm docs to get me an ergonomic chair. What's funny is that the chair I was given cost $3k, and is less comfortable than my $250 chair at home from Amazon.

For my remote work accommodation, I ended up developing (or finally realized I had) anxiety issues that required more than just grinding through after the covid years, the first RTO mandate (after being promised that working from home was the way of the future), and spending now more than a year on pins & needles wondering whether I or my spouse will be re-imagined on a whim despite being high performers and heavy contributors to our respective departments. Bi-weekly therapist sessions and meds because of this place are my life anymore.

Not as bad as the man that committed s**cide after being ISP'd or the other people I'm personally aware of that are dealing with work stress induced medical conditions.

This place is slowly ki-ling people, and ELT just hopes that they quit before they die so it's not on their hands.

The price of greed at the top is the people that this place is slowly k*lling.

Good luck! You better have laundry list of conditions and a good lawyer on speed dial. If it gets approved, just assume you will then be marked as a target to get rid of in some capacity. I've seen it happen several times already and it was before the reimagining clowns took over. If you get approved, I would also have the resume updated and begin searching for other jobs. Remember, they want us all miserable because we are "human centered".

@ad , good luck. It took me forever way back in the day for an anchored cube after the Vid.

The associate at the time said my Dr note wasn't good enough.
