Thread regarding CDW layoffs

New hires posting and trashing current and former coworkers

What is going on at CDW?

We have new hires and overseas contractors fighting with current and former coworkers.

We have current and former coworkers fighting with new hires and overseas contractors.

So much for being a "family" working together to gain market share and making things better.

Most seem new out of college.

But...the purge was needed. So many deadbeats just coasting by in their seats.

Dell and MS also had layoffs recently. I saw we let go of contractors and overseas people as well.

What's left are people are tenured sellers stuck in a situation where they need to provide for their families.

Most of the people that got CDW to $20 billion left in the first wave after the IPO over a decade ago. Then more of the heavy hitters in sales left once the outsourcing and contractors started replacing US backbone staff.

Those sales leaders and sellers mostly went to LinkedIn, the channel partners, or smaller competitors that provide a higher base and higher cut of profits.

I'm an ex-coworker with shares and I'm hoping whatever the new plan is, gets shares rebounding with higher dividends.

If these new hires are hungry and bring back the old CDW where people made 70-100 dials and were on the phones 3-4+ hours a day...stock could rebound.

Crossing my fingers for everyone. If they win...I'll win too since I'm still invested.

They may be trying a new approach of bringing in better or more experienced talent. Dell did the same and we know Leahy talks to Michael at Dell regularly. From some of the posts, some of the new coworkers are telling others not to share those details.

I will be sending in my acceptance letter monday. After reading these posts while studying the company, I am taking the offer and joining the fight. But I have to say, are there any strong, capable, and smart coworkers? We just joined a post chat with 3 more weaklings. The lack of competitiveness and drive is apparent. No wonder the stock has been in trouble. Miss Leahy can't win with these types of people in the ranks.

From the other thread looks like leadership decided to increase the base for new hires and also award stock options.

They going to offer the same for everyone left since they made the cut?

Stock options for non sales (backbone)?? Maybe a pay bump since the support staff got downsized and will have more work?

Not sure what the angle is unless they fired way more headcount than they hired. Between severance packages, onboarding, and share buybacks, that's a lot of money being spent.

@a2 New corporate culture????? It is the only culture that can exist at CDW to win. If you call it new culture and you accepted it in the past, please resign and make way for those of us that appreciate a job and will compete to be the best.

@a2 We should be aiming at the competition but us new hires aren't going to battle with pathetic soldiers from the past. Why don't you all retire so that we can bring in more warriors that aren't snivelling employees with many losses in their record. How can we Bring IT with dog sh-T?

We will recognize those that really want to fight and embrace them. Those that kick back we will report. We have been chatting on the job board websites and we have a plan to lessen the herd of weak employees. We will go in and learn and smile but we will report the weak. It is not personal. It is just business.

As a former coworker that retired 5 years ago with many CDW shares. I love it. What they have been posting and their positiveness has been needed for a while. Reading these boards made me feel like I was reading from soft coworkers for years. The new blood is exactly what the doctor ordered. Many of us retirees are cheering the newcomers on and sadly, hoping more layoffs happen so that we can bring in more of them. I need them for my retirement dreams because the outcome of the last two years have devastated my retirement. So look at it this way. It is the former and newcomers against the current and recently let go coworkers. Like in nature, the weak must be eliminated. Sorry all but it is true.

New corporate culture I guess.
Does seem to be more competitiveness but we should be aiming all of that energy against the competition.
