Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Thinking about going back

Is Cisco going thru a hiring freeze right now?
When is hiring is supposed to resume?

As far as I know, the hiring freeze was lifted some time in Q1. I was contacted in Q1 about being converted from contractor to employee and started in Q2 as an employee. Another person on my team converted in Q3.

There were 40-60 people AMEAR who started the same week I did and attended the new hire orientation sessions with me.

I've seen a lot of hiring recently.

Compare the activity of the Cisco thread on this site to other companies that you might look at. Chances are there is less chaos at other companies. Think about that before you try to get back in to Cisco.

In my case I left and I got a counter offer to stay at Cisco (what I hear is rare). But I joined marketable cloud organization. 1 year later, If I get offer for a higher grade, I may take it.

But any idea when the hiring will start? Understand that it’s freeze now.

Would you marry to the same women twice if you got divorced the first time?... Think carefully.

That's not a good analogy. Usually someone (the bread winner) has to pay in a divorce: alimony, child support, division of assets, etc.

In the case of LR's, Cisco pays.

So, yes, if I had a decent nest egg and the job market stays active, I'd take the easy money from Cisco, do the minimal work expected, and take the severance package money to the bank while I take yet another job somewhere else w/in 30 days of leaving Cisco.

My only concern about going back is the question of how toxic the team I'd be joining is. If it's a decent team, "show me the money". If it's a toxic team, well, there's more to life than money. Dealing with toxicity is not "easy money". You paid a high price and earned every cent you got and probably didn't make enough to put up with it.

Why do you want to go and get LR'd? #BeSmart , you are just a number to the current leadership... Would you marry to the same women twice if you got divorced the first time?... Think carefully.
