Just counted them today, in a remote office (not SD nor USA), we have nearly one lead every 6 people.. and I mean leads, not just line managers... this means one in 6 who just sends status updates..

No one who is good at technical work wants to be a lead. Too many meetings and too much butt kissing politics. My lead is a pain because he expects us to do this work for him. Plus he thinks he's God's gift to coding, but doesn't know what he's doing half the time, as his skillset has atrophied since the siren song of management inflated his ego.
What a bunch of whiners. Wait until its your time to become the lead... lets hear the btiching then.... thought not. dumb f**ks.
and fun part is that these so called leads find it below their dignity to do actual work...lol
I agree, way too many leads, this due to bulk promotions in recent years without having actual lead work....its politics time !!!
There are indeed too many leads. My small project has 7 working engineers and 5 leads.

How did you come to the fact this company is failing? What metric are you using?
This company is still making billions, maybe not as much as Wallstreet greed or Jana would like. Are you a child running around scared cause you read some internet blogs? I hate MF's like you that think you know something but you dont know shiiit and spread your BS here.
This is not the 'cause' of the failure. It is merely one of many 'symptoms'.
