New post on teamworks. Sounds like we’ll be able to work from anywhere including the use of our own personal devices. I wonder if this means I can be content with my job again and go fully remote the way we were for two years. Thoughts?

You're wrong buddy. With the new tech, I can be standing at a water cooler in Charlotte chatting through Teams on my phone with a teammate who is at a water cooler in Minneapolis.
Appears they prefer all employees eventually become contractors. The new Uber bank?
Just another example of recognizing the need for remote work and mobility while at the same time forcing employees to be in an office.
It’s no different than virtual town halls about return to office.
“Look at all this cool technology that allows us to communicate from anywhere in the world, but you don’t need that when you can have water cooler conversations with people you don’t work with.”
The truth is they want to have their cake and eat it too.
They want you in an office and they want you working from home, but most importantly when you’re expected to connect to company resources after-hours, they don’t want to pay for the equipment that allows you to do that.
I pay to take the train to work.
I pay for my suits to wear at work.
I pay for my own lunch during my work break.
What’s next?
Pay for a laptop to do my job.
Pay for a monthly subscription fee in order to have a security badge to get in the office.
Pay for a cubicle at my office.
Pay for an office chair in my office.
That being said, Am I turning myself into a contractor?

No more PTO.

The company gets to spy on me by downloading software to my laptop and monitoring everything I do.
I assume the whole move to VDI is for data loss prevention and maybe to reduce cap ex on laptops and desktops. While you can use your existing hardware now, it was mentioned last year that you'll essentially end up with a BYOD situation and have to buy your own equipment. This is total bullsh*t. Why should I have to pay for my own hardware for company business? While it is said they won't access your hardware outside a container, how can we be sure?
I don't see how you can or should buy the cheapest laptop. Sometimes, my work laptop isn't strong enough. Definitely can't go backwards. And if you travel you need to bring your personal laptop? That's crazy. I understand a bit about the work phone but laptops are a must and requires for work. I wonder if it's even legal.
Telling us they can access webcam, mouse and keyboard will only strengthen the fear people have with using our own computer for work. I will by the cheapest laptop on the market before I use my personal computer for work - regardless of claims the container cannot be breached.

This has been discussed before. They can’t see any personal data on your device. The connection to your desktop is done within a container app. They can tell if that container app is minimized, they can access webcams/mouse/keyboard as needed and that’s it.
I will not use my personal device for any WF work. They have no business seeing any of my personal info. If I have to provide my own laptop it will be a bare bones model with nothing personal on it.
It doesn’t impact RTO and won’t change that one bit. You’ll have the same situation but you’ll use your own device when connecting from home. In office you will have a computer or terminal you use.
I have an iPhone and would gladly use my unused MacBook Air which I rarely use anyway to do my job if it meant I could do it from home.
Oh, you can't afford a computer to work here?

I don't see how many of this impacts RTO. It's more of a hardware situation more than anything. I think it sucks that they won't provide a work laptop that's basically required to do your job. It's a little asinine to expect people to buy their own.
