Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

This place is awful

I recently left a job and moved for a job with Allstate, and now this happens. This place is awful. My manager has been with the company for over 25 years and he talks to people like it's the 1970's and 80's on the production line BECAUSE HE CAN. All of these years he has never been approached about his horrible personality. I really hope he gets canned; he deserves it. I am NOT staying with this company even if I don't get canned. I can't go through this every couple of years.

You are correct, Allstate is really really bad. Over the past 20 some years, we go through this about every 2 to 3 years. Why can't Allstate plan better? Why can't they roll people off certain projects and then put them on new projects? It seems like when times are good, they hire way too many people. Then when times slow down, that's when people get let go. I've see this pattern way too many times.

One of the most savage, nasty environments I have worked in, hands down. Everyone talks s*it about everyone. Nepotism is high, people f– one another – it's just nasty. Shout out to New England offices, especially lol

Get out while you can, I’ve never worked anywhere that truly hates their employees as much as Allstate does. Layoffs, the ridiculous “week without pay”, declining benefits, toxic fear based culture. I’ve never seen such learned helplessness and intentional ignorance in a claims organization. Everyone hates you, corporate, customers, shops, other claims reps. My rates also seem to constantly increase on my own personal auto policy, nice.

The culture does appear to need an overhaul. There’s still nepotism and a good old boys atmosphere at times. High performers get ignored if they aren’t one of the pre selected chosen few. There is a severe lack of objectivity when it involves promotions/DPAs.

Oh not to mention how s-xist the company is. If you are not the favorite then say goodbye to your career. Get stuck forever. No value for talent and hard work. Company that does not value meritocracy, offshores thousands of jobs, is top heavy, does share buy backs, poorly trained managers and is a toxic place to work will not survive long. Laying off people in a pandemic, shame on you. Why can’t you do shared sacrifice like other companies where senior leadership took pay cut it to avoid layoff. Horrible place to be. Run! Unethical place to be.

our old MCM would go on vacations with female employees, they would get promoted. not making this up. We all got laid off though when our office closed. Allstate is this most toxic company i have ever worked for.

The most toxic company I ever worked for. s-xism, gaslighting, fear, and intimidation should not be foundations of a corporate culture.

This is so true. I am so glad I left this toxic place and have not looked back ever since. So many people at allstate were rude and entitled. Toxic place to work.

Let me guess, your manager is from Chicago? A lot of the Allstate lifers are so rude and entitled because nothing has ever happened to them. Maybe this will be the kick in the a– they need.
