Nike Laid Me Off and Now I'm Seeing the Truth: The Shocking Insider Secrets of a Corrupted Company

WTF is going on at Nike? I've been here for 10 years and I ain't seen nothing like this before. Management's always been shady but now they're just straight up evil. They're getting rid of good people left and right and replacing them with robots and drones. I heard they're even using chatbots to write copy now. Can you believe that?

And don't even get me started on the new "work-life balance" BS. I'm all for it, but what about the rest of us? They're expecting us to work harder for less pay and less benefits. It's like they don't even care about us anymore.

But the worst part is the paranoia. You can't trust anyone anymore. I swear, half the people here are spies or informants. They're always watching and listening. It's like we're living in a damn police state.

I can't take it anymore. I'm out of here. But I'm not going down without a fight. I'm starting a movement. Who's with me? Let's take back our company and make it great again. #resistNike

Based on accusations made in the comments, I suspect it's comm-hr using a bot to conduct some psychological-ops campaign....

With that being said...this thread reads like any other paranoid/tone-deaf post on this site. We get what we deserve.

So this whole thread is either a comms-HR collab or someone is testing a chatbot

“Layoffs are necessary” no sh!t Sherlock …. But these things are never black and white. There are decisions being made that are bad for Nike but good for individuals and HR is complicit in that. You’re statement reeks of entitlement and ignorance. I’m also a manager and I also have had to let people go, but it sounds like what you deem a “problematic” employee is different then my definition. #youarepartiftheproblem

Ok. I have had enough. I've been reading this message board for a while and need to comment on this thread.

There seems to be a lack of perspective here from someone that manages people. This message board is filled with unaccountable employees that play the role of snowflakes.

LET'S GET ONE THING STRAIGHT, layoffs are a necessary part of doing business. As a manager, it's my job to make sure the company is running as efficiently as possible and that means getting rid of dead weight. That is my job. Do yours. And let me tell you, there's a lot of dead weight out there.

People have this misconception that HR is there to take of employees with problems. No, HR is there to manage out problematic employees. The ones who can't perform, the ones who don't fit the the culture, the ones who are just plain lazy. And if you can't handle that, then maybe you're not cut out for the business world.

And let me tell you, I don't have a problem using HR to do that.

And to the rest of you, if you want to keep your job, then stet up your game and perform. Because I'm not afraid to make the tough decisions, and neither should you be.

This is a ridiculous thread … but this last comment is from a true corporate shill. Wait till someone uses HR to manage you out because you didn’t come from Khols, or you had a difference of opinion with your man child VP.

I completely disagree with the previous commenter's perspective. Change is necessary in any organization, especially in a fast-paced industry like ours. We need to constantly strive for innovation and progress, not resist it. The idea that Nike Tech is a "disastrous org" is simply not true. As a manager, I work every day to groom and develop talent within the company and to use HR to manage out team members who are not meeting our standards. At Nike, it's about being a "groomer" and constantly pushing ourselves to be better.

As for the original poster, I urge you to take a step back and look at your role within the company. We are all here to add value to the shareholders and to the company as a whole. Instead of resisting change and spreading negativity, try to focus on what you can do to make a positive impact.

And to end, a quote from Bill Bowerman, "Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower."

The management is like Gollum, clinging to old ways and unable to adapt. The employees are the hobbits, trying to journey towards a better future but held back by Gollum's greed. A revolution is needed to overthrow Gollum and take back the company's true potential

Wow, I can't believe the things that are happening at Nike too! I swear it's like we're living in the Empire or something. Management is just a bunch of stormtroopers following orders and squashing the little guy. I've been there for years and it's like they don't even know who we are anymore. Resistance is our only hope! #Maytheforcebewithus

I agree with the original poster, Nike is going down the drain. The Tech organization is a disaster, they don't know what they're doing. They're just a bunch of kids playing with toys. As Phil Knight once said 'The time is always right to do what is right.' It's time for a revolution at Nike, we need to stand up against management and take back what's rightfully ours!
