Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Store Manager walked today

Our manager finally got the boot. I hate that it took almost 4 years. We had a 90 to 95 percent turnover. I suddenly like my job again.. LOL

Sometimes, the devil you know is better than the one you don't.

Our store, which I will not identify other than to say it's in Northern Ohio, suffers from inept management at virtually all levels. Our SM hates confrontation, so problems that are brought to his attention linger on, unresolved, for months. He dislikes using email, and makes sure that anything controversial that's dealt with is dealt with orally - presumably to avoid creating a paper trail.

The rest of the management cadre is about 50/50. Half of them try to do their jobs, but the other half hide in their office b–ching about how terrible the employees are. When they do come out, they circle the store, not doing much of anything. Some I've never seen try to pitch in when a problem pops up. They will actually stand and watch while others deal with the issue.

It's pretty obvious that the majority of the "managers" are just phoning it in, showing virtually no interest in what's going on around them (with the exception that when someone makes a mistake, or has a problem, they're all over that like white on rice, with many unwanted comments). Their disdain for other employees, apart from their sycophantic crew of pals, is painfully obvious, and has only gotten worse with all the recent cuts and changes.

Things have gotten so bad that I'm not even sure replacing the duds would serve any purpose. The damage has been done, continues to be done, and as long as this management group remains on the scene, it will continue to be done. Sad.

I worked for over 10 sm’s in my career. One thing I learned—no matter who you have as a sm, there’s one out there that’s much worse than what you have. Be careful what you wish for...

You guys do realize sm bonus bbn is tied to payroll right. It's all about bigger bonuses. It's always been. Why it's a job you collect a paycheck.

it wont matter... the lowes system is broken no matter who the sm is

ours doesnt even hire / staff. our store is the worst and has a reputation in district where corp wont even visit or enter its doors (pussies)

no matter what asm's or sm you have, they will quickly become jerkstains under the lowes system and corp rule

We went from bad to MUCH worse but finally, now, we have a good SM and a good combination of ASM's. Amazing. Hope it lasts.
