Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Why has working for lowes ,turned into russian roulette

Why has working for lowes ,turned into russian roulette.ive been a specialist for 12 years in appliances, last month recieved an award for selling 1,000,000 + every year for the past 7 years,2 weeks later they call me in tell me im losing 15% of my pay next year,i fully believe i will also be cut before the fiscal year ends.yes i have lost all respect for lowes as a company.i dont blame any of the managers in my store, all of this c-ap is coming from corporate.if i lose my job i will survive, but some of my lowes friends and family will not.all i can say is shame on you Marvin Ellison the almighty dollar has turned you into a greedy POS.

I keep asking myself the same question as @116fZO6R-2nkk

Just blaming current leadership for all of the company’s problems is lazy and short-sighted. Fact is, Lowe’s has been on the wrong track for years, in decline and plagued with underperformance since way before Marvin took over. I think it actually goes back to Niblock steering the company outside of its core business and getting the company entangled in some very costly acquisitions and initiatives that have cost the company and shareholders dearly. Orchard, Masters(Australasia), and I’d even argue Rona were all boondoggles that have never made a positive return on investment. HD has been eating Lowe’s lunch for at least the last 8-9 years not only because they have us outgunned but also because of investments in their existing stores and maintaining focus on the core business—serving and engaging the retail and pro segments of home improvement. I truly think current leadership recognizes the problem and is trying to right the ship.
Some of you will eventually come to the realization that, unless you are willing to advance into management, home improvement retail is simply not a career anymore that will support a family like it used to be. Those jobs are going away and they are never coming back.

With all the cost cutting measures being implemented, I believe that corporate management is signaling that the company as a whole is in dire straits.Dynamic companies do not slash and burn like Lowe’s has been doing for the past several years. Poorly thought out initiatives like international expansions ( Australia, Canada and Mexico), lack of proper investment in technology ( Sterling ) and the dismantling of a loyal and knowledgeable work force are the key culprits in the disintegration of the company. Management decisions have cost the company billions of dollars and somehow the customer facing associates are to blame. The chickens are coming home to roost.

We have difficulty hiring people who stay at my store, meanwhile at the Home Depot down the road they advertise “we’re fully staffed.”

Hi All,
I voluntarily resigned from the company after working for them close to 13 year's, I was going to retire anyway and move to a different state to be close to our children. I wanted to leave via what I've always considered the 'normal' way, by giving a two week notice. But at my store I've seen several people trying to leave the same way be told "just go ahead and leave", I didn't want to give them the chance to do that to me. The more I read now about how much the company is changing, I know more than ever I left at the perfect time.

it would be safe to assume that more changes are coming. Many of us are losing income promised to us come February which is a knife in the back but what else will happen. Will the annual raise that comes in March be smaller than usual or maybe eliminated all together? Will they eliminate /rebrand the positions to a much smaller pay rate. Why not just terminate all current employees and start from scratch ? 2020 is the year the bottom really drops out.
