Does anyone know how many people have been laid off so far?

Does anyone know how many people have been laid off so far in the Oct-Nov layoffs? Does anyone know how many more layoffs are planned?

I was part of the 11/6/2019 Optum rift. A 5 minute phone call from my manager after 18+ years with the company telling me "thanks, but your position has been eliminated. An email will be sent to your personal email address with the details." No doubt mine was part of eliminating the older higher paid echelon.

The last two years with Optum definitely showed huge changes coming especially with the style of management and expectations from worker bees. Moral has taken a dive. Silo's that had been previously opened up in favor of better communication and collaboration have been rebuilt not based on the technology served but on the product such as claims, eligibility, benefits, etc. A definite move in the wrong direction IMO. It seemed that within the last two years at least once a month an announcement would be made about a new VP or higher level executive coming on board with a re-org to lead a new path.

There was a time when I was proud and excited to work for Optum because of the direction of the company, the support and understanding of workers family, and what appeared to be a definite caring for individual workers.

I didn't write this because of anger towards Optum. This has been written only to state my observations and some regret for not reading the writing on the wall.

Just under 2000 employees across all lines of business in Optum and UHC in the USA.

OGS was not included. In fact, I'd like to compare the growth in OGS vs the reductions in the USA, though. Betcha there's a correlation.

Enough was enough and I chose the door. Several coworkers had already bailed before me. Supervisors had been making things rough since the summer.

I wish I could upvote the first reply. Completely agree that the company values (pillars) seem like platitudes instead of tenets to operate by.

I saw the writing about a year ago and heard what was coming recently and bailed. 13 years- started as a supervisor and ended as a Senior Director. I didn’t know because my VP told me, I knew because a Associate Director in a completely different team told me she had heard. Those who think everyone knows ahead of time are not correct. If your name is on the list you may not know until the day of, like every other employee. The stress level has literally been completely removed now and although I owe a lot of knowledge, professional recommendations, family vacations and investments to the company, I will always feel they are not living by the values that they try to instill into there organization. I think they once had it but I do not believe they do any longer. Greed has taken over. I find it sad for the organization and the families impacted. Even those that are not impacted at this time are continuously on edge everyday when the unknown meeting invite comes through. That isn’t a way to live. I realize layoffs are part of life but I feel like they are doing it in a sneaky way, and for that I cannot respect the leaders making those decisions.

I'm in IT and it's been obvious since October 2018, management have been silent unless there's a communication and it comes from a different manager each time. I'm leaving now since it's better for my health and mental state. It's tough not to take this personally but we have to keep on truckin.

How about the numbers of employees who saw the writing on the wall and left before the heads started to roll?
