Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Latest prediction for layoffs

Heh. You are FAR too optimistic, my friend. S.C. is three steps ahead of you already. The spreadsheet analysis has been done.
The first round of layoffs for calendar year 2020 begins on Tuesday, January 7th.
S.C. has already circulated memos telling management to begin cutting expenses. First up is minimizing travel expenses for 2H FY 2020, particularly for internal meetings. Trace expenses are going to be cut 50% starting immediately in the New Year.
Oracle is on a HUGE mandate to begin growing profits and EPS through cuts. Reason being is that share buyback sugar high through easy cash is pretty much done — Oracle has put itself in major debt and starved itself of cash over the past few years by buying back shares to prop up EPS. Can’t borrow any more money, so the REAL belt tightening begins right after the Holidays.
No joke, on very good authority. Serious layoffs start right after people get back. No group will be spared. Combine that with expense reduction, and Oracle will be following HP by “saving” and cutting its way to short term profits. Again a move that will only work as a sugar high for 1-2 years.
Seriously, get out while you can and while the economy is good

This makes total sense. They have been buying stock so LJE and SC and others can sell at 50+. Once sold in Jan, they will initiate a major "sell" move to someone or a breakup. Either way there will likely be starting layoffs.

It's too bad the company under MH and TK did nothing other than 150+ acquisitions, little innovation and move the on-Prem apps to the oracle cloud with some enhancements. It's a lock-in strategy that upsets most BOD's.

Half my team is gone now working jobs they hate because they listened to these kinds of rumors.

I know people who quit 2-3 years ago who already changed jobs again. Lots of places have worse GlassDoor ratings than O.

Keep spreading the rumors! Helps me out ;) Half my team is gone now working jobs they hate because they listened to these kinds of rumors. While I still have a job for the foreseeable future at Oracle due to our teams profits and small headcount. I hope everyone has a wonderful 2020.

There's not enough noise on here for this to be true. Last march when they did big layoffs, this site was buzzing. I expect another March-time layoff. Maybe some at end of this quarter and some at beginning of next. That seems to be the way they do it.

what is the future for smart people working for Oracle?

This was my legacy. Lots of people making up lies about me behind my back so that certain people wouldn't work with me. Other people getting credit for the things I did. Oracle is sh—city. If you are a smart person, you need to get the hell out of there. Otherwise, the dishonest scum that make up the people in charge will use you to no end.

Get the hell out.

Yeah, about the useless levels of mgmt in support. It was a shock to find that they inserted two additional layers of mgmt over us after we were acquired. Communication, not always a strong suit, became more difficult. But you know why that happens? Support is a goldmine in any tech company. Recurring revenue from orgs that may or may not even open a case. They’ve cheated out the offerings by sending the work to far flung locations so they can pay the workers less, and fund all the useless mgmt bonuses. It’s a scam.

Just take a little peruse through Aria at the multiple levels of useless management. Just in Support alone it’s ridiculous the number of people “needed” that are “over seeing” the pukes who do the real work. Been part of several companies in my career and haven’t seen the level waste like at Oracle - the good ‘ol boys (and girls) club that keeps an endless supply of useless managers. But will cutting take place there? Would be nice, but don’t hold your breath.

Fake or not, lots of people are not needed at Oracle.

This is fake news and no base...lot of hiring going on in many orgs and looks they planning more in the new year. Yes cost cutting is there but not through layoffs. If yes why they are hiring aggressively?
