Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

No Packages for anyone

Overheard a DHRM say that if anyone that is layed off they would not receive packages. The only exception would be people with 20+ years of employment. Anyone hear anything?

If any exec is promising there will be no more layoffs, said exec is lying through his or her teeth. Mark my words. More layoffs coming...this time, no packages.

Will this impact MST in GA? Lot of reorganizing going on here but execs promising no more lay offs.

Layoffs will be across the board. No one area is being targeted. If you're in a smaller store with less square footage, your store will be closed.

This is not a drill, folks. Armageddon is coming and it's coming fast.

I'm in Cincinnati. Layoffs are coming. No packages will be given. Trust me, this situation is worse than what is stated in the papers.

Haven't you noticed you're not getting the same amount of product?

BT delivery dates are fewer and more spread out.

Hours decreased.

We are currently planning more store closings. Upwards of 150.

Store hours will be shortened.

Floor Associate comfort is of no matter to anyone beyond SMs. They do not care if you stay or not.

Run. Now. Get out.

If you think about it, it makes complete sense. The company is under no legal obligation to give a severance package and the reason that companies do provide them is to retain the top talent they do have. Once Macy's reaches a point where it knows there will be plenty of talent available in the marketplace to fill any unexpected job openings that may occur as retained people leave on their own volition, then spending on severance packages is is not a good use of company resources.

A SM let go from another store in my area stated the same thing.

One of the SMs that was laid off in my store said, on the way out, he was told this is the last round of packages as the company will no longer be able to sustain it. Therefore, this is unsurprising news.
