Walmart Restructure 2018

What do we know so far? Do we anticipate any major restructure in the HO and also, what about stores.

How about:

  • Groups

  • Levels

  • Geographies

  • etc.

Just want to start a discussion - I saw a post on WNT Pharmacy 2018 layoffs @PGFNHnS and thought this may be a good idea.

Please chime in.

Well you guys just don't understand. We're competing with tech companies like Amazon. Yet not just our majority market cap/revenue is made up solely of commerce, it is entirely made of that. Amazon doesn't make all of it's money from e-commerce or store fronts. It makes it from business to business operations such as Amazon web services, and other digital services geared towards consumers. Oh I lied, at least Walmart has Vudu! Which carries mainstream titles online only for a decent price. Good job Walmart, cept it's so finicky to use for the average dumb--s who just plugs in a TV and wants it to work. Don't forget the Stark difference in overhead between both. Now other brick and mortar retailers are gaining ground like Costco. Oh and BTW back to Amazon, look at that share price, doesn't even need explaining there lol. Berkshire Hathaway sold 90% of their shares in Walmart between 2016 and 2017. Is that not saying anything? Meanwhile Walmart has bought jet and a few other online retailers. None of which anyone hears about anymore lol. Walmart has the resources but they've always needed talent in the tech sector which is always lacking. The stores have half adopted a new digital store management platform and have half kept the legacy platform, causing many problems in and of itself, alas with no on call professionals to remedy these issues... So we're not really competing against Amazon, it's just biting their ankles is less boring than doing the same thing we've always done.

It’s not just the Managers. The Company does not care about their associates. If they cared at all, don’t you think they would make their way to the stores that have really low aes scores and do something about it?

Walmart is going to keep growing with us or without us.I have been working for Walmart for 6 years. All I can say that Walmart store managers are a joke do not care about customers or associates. They only care about having Sunday's off and being home with there family by 5 pm.I have never seen anything like it market managers really do not speak to associates or customers. But want to talk about aes,cff and the secret shopper scores.I worked for Publix for 18 years and what Walmart need to know is the store managers should lead by example and not act as if they are Walmart God .I was let go during the Asst.Manager resturctre which.I was retailltied against because I have been taking care of my sick mother. But at the end of the day I am good and I know they lost a great manager. As everyone told me that have been there longer than me Walmart does not care and I tell them over and over again it is not Walmart it is there slave driving store managers that work for them.Everyone that has been with Walmart seem to have this it is me or you and how can you control turnover with that attitude and all of your associates count remember that.

They are starting the YBM for all store managers in Houston Texas today. The actual told, the managers this morning...

" it's challenging and it's not easy to break into .com" when decussing poor 4th quarter results. It's not easy ??? Then why did Walmart pay over 3 Billion dollars for Jet.com and made the Jet.com guy CEO over all .com for Walmart. Wow that worked out well didn't it. I guess they have to make up the shortfall in sales and profit by firing Co Managers, Z's and Department Managers and who knows who else is next.

Has anyone heard any information on eliminating the training coordinator positions?

I don’t think no one is playing the victim, so the bs of saying that can go out the window for me. Walmart has the right to do anything they want to do true, but the question still remains is it right? The buddy system was used for a lot of people who lost there jobs. This was a career for people, this paid the bills and took care of families which Walmart sits under this banner pretending that your families come first when it’s not the case. Blood, sweat and tears have been dedicated along with time and unfair treatment. If these things have not happened to you keep living. Why open up jobs with less than half of positions that you are willing to keep? All in the name of chasing Amazon. Many great companies thought they were untouchable, but they no longer exist. One thing every single person in this world must do is rep what they sow and it doesn’t stop for the people who sit up top behind the desk making poor decisions. The time that people lost with family and friends can never be given back or the time working with one company that took you away from the people you loved all for the mighty dollar. They are trying to go back to the old ways but with a twist. The year they added all those Co’s should not have happened, because this situation would not be happening. People up top are using the everyday workers as pawns bottom line. Change a company for the better and if you can get a person up top who can do it with minimum to no casualties then I say keep them because they truly understand business.

yes training coordinators are going to be eliminated. Personnel coordinator will be forced to take salary position or step out. This is another way Walmart is getting rid of their long term associates, because grant you most are.

Store managers you are next. Have fun running two stores. With less Co's.

Walmart should have restructured and eliminated market managers. Why Walmart needs them and their high salary is beyond me. Just to have them come in and repeat the one best way. WHY unless Walmart has so many incompetent managers

Sams belief was you take care of our people and they will take care of you. Sams beliefs have been thrown out and look at the result.

With in the next ten years you will see Walmart losing market shares and closing of stores. Its already started in Texas. Bless the tenure associates there.

@PItRsQz-1Mrnh What a great motivational speech !! You must be part of the Mgmt. or have your head in the sand, if you can't see the reality of what is happening. It is not about work ethics, worker efficiency or any of the scapegoat material that is thrown out to the media to print.

Tell me WHAT company does not hire seasonal help for Christmas 🎄 and then lay them off???

Why do people slam Walmart?

If you are a good hardworking person you WILL keep the job.

Learn some good work ethic and quit thinking everyone owes you something.

I thank my father every day for teaching me work ethic and tact.

Ha. This is beautiful, being there front and center to watch this Raptire-esque career plague sweeping down to smite these miserable and obsolete Co-dogs is the only reason i'd like to still be on the clock for this black hearted company. ... There was a co in one of my town's stores who recently got fired after nearly 40 yeas with the company, for simply defending himself against a shop lifter's attack. He was DEFENDING hmself----and got f i r e d. But this was the same puke who himself had personally terminated over a third of that store's night shift, good folk who'd been there for over twenty years.

Karma, baby.

A long term associate was terminated and then given their certificate service award, their pin, and a plaque. How infantile of a procedure. I’m not classically nor academically trained in organizational effectiveness but I am educated and could have come up with a better strategy than that. It’s called use the common sense God gave you. This isn’t nuclear physics people. We are all adults please conduct yourself as such. Embarrassing that these individuals who devised the exit strategy were hired.

It is true !! Meeting today to decide what to do with the fate of All Co managers. They say performance based. You know they will get around it with moving every one with active coaching gs into the red zone and they can get away with that. Then they can move to keep the ones they want.
