Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

John Flannery's Aggressive Head Chopping.

John Flannery promised aggressive head chopping before the investor meeting in November. That means heads will roll in October. Is your head safe? Think again. There is no longer a "safe group" of friends that you've counted on for so many years to save your job. GE is floundering in the worst financial condition ever as GE increasingly is becoming known for EXPENSIVE, LOW QUALITY products. GE has been known for decades as a prolific layoff company. Flannery is no exception as he is from the same GE School of Layoffs. Watch Flannery and other leaders try to contain their excitement as they announce the upcoming layoffs. This is what drives them. They obtain energy themselves by making what they think are "tough decisions". They love it. They can't wait to send you to the unemployment line. They will enjoy expensive dinners and other luxuries as they celebrate your demise.

@PyZlnJu-3knu True, the Technical Leaders personal agenda is to protect their "buddies". If you ain't a buddy, you get a knife in your back. They are your friend to your face. When you're not around to defend yourself you get the knife.

The Ivory Tower extends to GE Greenville leadership. It's amazing how sheltered and ignorant local leadership is from the reality of the floor. Very disconnected. They are oblivious how disconnected they are from actual contributions of their workforce. They only hear from technical leaders that have personal agendas.

"Ivory Tower" --- A state of privileged seclusion or separation from the facts and practicalities of the real world.

This definition should include a picture of GE Leadership.

@PyZlnJu-2ehd, you are correct, Greenville's plant manager and staff will never get layed off. If they were gone, GE would have nobody to ignore PowerPoints all day everyday. GE couldn't make it without producing all those PowerPoints and having these clowns pretend to read them.

GE greatly underestimates the power of people. People can communicate via social media and networks better than ever before. Historically, GE would fire massive numbers of people and their voices were silenced. Now employees are connected to customers and competitors with vast complex social networks. GE still thinks they can kick people to the curb and there will be no long term negative impact. Think again!!! People that continuously are kicked by large conglomerates lose all loyalty and respect. These people use powerful social networks to advance GE's competition and expose the unethical business practices once hidden by GE. It may be too late for GE to recover from their own self induced demise.

I can't wait until after the massive layoffs occur and Flannery is puzzled as to why customer commitments are failing. The Board of Directors and Flannery need to go ahead and invest in a big fat mirror so they can see who to blame. They can watch as their ivory tower crumbles below their feet. Talented employees need to go immediately to GE's competitors and help them dominate GE as MANY former GE Layoff victims have done. GE has no loyalty so why should we have any?
