Yes, we are hearing this all over the East. Severance packages being worked on as I type. I work next to HR in an open space office and the word is May. HR are working OT to meet the deadline and get packages done. If we make it past May with no RIFs I will donate 1/2 of my paycheck to a non-profit.

Largest layoff ever and for the whole company?!?! This is going to be Nuts. Buckle up people and get your popcorn ready. This forum should be really busy the next month or so.
Anyone heard of layoffs coming for VZW Network Assirance?
Read up on About You pal (Your Retiree Medical Coverage). I am ex VZ. Hired in 1989. A RIF for me is simply retirement (only need the magic number of 73 and I have 79). Medical for life!!!
Medical for life. Bahahahahah. Keep dreaming. 37 weeks max of medical
I am a VES Service Manager (now called Program Manager). They are moving over 50% of our Large Business Accounts to the centers next week (Cary NC and Manila). Word in VZB is this RIF on May 4th will be largest one ever and impact the entire company. I am ex NJ Bell/Bell Atlantic, VZ and my number is 79 (50 years old with 29 years service) so I am ready to go. Give me my severance package, lump sum pension, 401k and that is well over a million dollars. And my medical for life. Working here has sure had its' ups and downs, but can't complain with what the parting gifts. I sure hope I am on the list.
Who cares. This is nothing new. Come in, do your job a split. Dont give them anymore of your time. Give them less..
Which group is HR preparing severance packages for?
Donate through the Verizon Foundation, they will match your donation dollar for dollar. Make those f---ers pay! LOL
"Yep, they lay off people on a regular basis all the time. I worked for VZW for almost 25 years and dodged many RIFs until 2015 when they RIF'd over 5000 people."
16,000 were laid off in November 2017. (Last work day -- December 29th.) I worked in the department that provided phone service/computers for employees -- so I knew how many got axed.
So, yep, they do lay off on a regular basis, but they also lay off in huge chunks, which is a completely different matter. Otherwise the company wouldn't have about half as many employees that they had ten years ago.
And if Vestberg does to Verizon what he did to Ericsson, my guess is Verizon could be down to 75,000 (or less) employees, in the next few years.
NOC rumors are 10 between East and West

What departments? Call centers? IT? Retail? YOU GOTTA BE MORE SPECIFIC!
Don't bring logic into this!!
Wireline EISP??
Pretty safe bet given that there are at least a few RIFs literally every month in a company of 150,000+ employees.
What departments? If you say retail, we will know you are lying! Retail will NEVER get laid off. Everybody on this board works in retail and is just praying for a package...Verizon would never be that kind to us.
Which half?
