Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Are AIG layoffs finished?

After surviving last week's layoffs, now I'm stressing once again about a possible continuation this week.

Does anybody know if it's done for sure? Been getting contradictory information so I am really not sure what to think about it.

So far it's all calm, but who knows...

Someone in my old department went on leave for six months because he was too stressed out. Used that time to get a new job.

My group had the all clear meeting last week and pretty sure it’s ongoing. I’m keeping a positive attitude, but also keeping my resume updated.

The layoffs are an ongoing process within AIG. They have (upper management) been doing this now for many years. You need to always be ready as if it is your last day at AIG. Let go of the stress, it does not help.

If you find the stress unbearable, you need to make life changes since stress will ultimately cause you health issues and show up in your personal interactions with co-workers. Switch jobs, sell items that you cannot afford, find a second source of income, etc.

I wish you well.

My dept took a hit last week. We were told that there would be more in September. Al Pacino said it best in Any Given Sunday: Life is a "triple decker stress sandwich" right now. :-(
