Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

There is no action plan for anyone that wants to stay except to tell us to apply for other jobs

I am very disappointed in Lowe’s. I’ve been with them for 5 years, on Friday was told I have 30 days to find another position or leave with severance. I had just had an interview for an MSM position in October where the RSM told me that I wasn’t quite ready yet but he would be happy to groom me into that position. I was told to speak to my SM also about grooming me to the next level, which I did and he said we would start after January. Maybe these people didn’t know, maybe it was a shock for all, but there is no action plan for anyone that wants to stay except to tell us to apply for other jobs. I felt after the meeting they want us to take the money and go on. But why? I’ve been an extremely loyal employee and I really didn’t want to leave. My heart is just broken. I did apply for some other positions even out of my region, I will stay hopeful but I just feel completely let down :(

Indeed, sad but true. The original poster is @WZzbgiz-alf

Our MSM was crying during the meeting. Told my wife that and she said if I was MSM I would have quit the company during the dismissal meeting. She sighted my integrity and flare for the dramatic exit.

That made me cry.

I weep for all who lost out to all these draconian cuts.

Glad I don’t work for Marv the Impaler anymore. Glad I don’t have the regret my MSM surely has. Especially glad the integrity my wife sees in me will be seen by others. I’ll have a new and better job soon.

Why would they have a plan to keep people they just let go? That is the plan. They dont want you sticking around. They fear you will be disgruntled for being forced into a position you didnt really want. Same rhing happened with the DMs in 2017. Had to get most of them out before EOS time.

Lowe's loves loyal employees that see the company as one big family bc they know they can get extra work out of you for nothing. How many bitter, fed up, disgruntled employees will still be there waving to those who towed the company line right out the door? It's just a job, just a check, they pay me as little as they can get away with so they'll get as little work as I can provide. One day my number will be up just like everyone else's and I'll ride the couch for a bit collecting unemployment before moving on to the next job. They aren't your family, if they're above your pay grade then shocker THEY AREN'T YOUR FRIEND, and they'd work you to death for a nickle if they could get away with it.

Those who attend the upcoming annual store meeting will be fed another lying pile of BS. We’re just one big happy family, give me a f---ng break.

And Marvin’s podcast: “Hope you all had a great holiday, you’re Fired” And God Bless...

Suggest you distrust the regional and market management in particular. They know things way ahead but can’t say. As a result they lie so as to not give impression of doom.

Any mid management position is going to go away. So don’t apply to those.

I’d move on if you’re able.

Our displaced associates are being given priority over others when it comes to new positions.

Our vacant head cashier position is being given to our psi coordinator and person that was to be in that position now will be just a cashier. They are not happy and not expected to stay long.

Same happened to me and thousands of others on Friday. I am not naive. It was a business decision. I learned this years ago. If you think you are more than just a body to any company you are dreaming.
