Last I heard Engineered Systems is still profitable. It won't last forever, but it still makes money. So imminent layoffs there, given the utter lack of staffing, seems unlikely.
Plus as 1osn mentioned, there is plenty of attrition at the IC level, no need for RIFS, except maybe for some redundant managers.
Unfortunately it is true and not a BS as mentioned above. This cut is coming, mostly on Engineering Systems/Hardware and others non-profitable orgs.

You must like to buy bridges.
Please God let it be true. My org keeps piling on managers and directors while simultaneously losing IC’s that are not being replaced.
You don’t need 8 layers of management to supervise a smoldering pile of ashes, but that’s the way it’s going to end up at this rate. As each new manager desperately tries to justify their do-nothing jobs, the level of micro-managing and metrics collecting intensifies, which leads to more IC’s leaving for alternative employment opportunities.
The effect this has had is already painfully clear. The fact that the c-suite and HR don’t acknowledge it only leads me to believe it will continue to its logical conclusion (ashes).
I’ve no advice to give, I’m in the same boat as many of you: a dozen years put in here, and my own personal calculus has me choosing to continue to stay at this point. Base your own decision on what’s best for you and your family. Good luck to all IC’s trying to survive this sh-- show.
Really hoping it's for real this time.
SL150 and SL4000 Tape Libraries are still being manufactured and sold. I think SL8500 is available until parts stock is exhausted.
I thought Oracle no longer manufactured/sold tape? Haven’t they stopped making the T10ke and sl tape libraries?
every year every month every week all the same stories about layoffs.
Every time all the same b---s---s.
This post sounds creditable. Folks in ES and classic org needs to watch out
Rumor is more like March 18th after the Q3 2019 announcement that Oracle is shutting down unprofitable divisions. Can't say you were not warned.

How do you know it's fake news? I assume you're an Oracle director or HR troll.
b---s---...that is all
I hear from folks behind the wall doing systems support that they are scrambling for cases. I think they’ll keep a skeleton staff until the products sunset.
Probably not. I'm thinking tape and sparc are growing big. They will save the numbers.

There is no work in oracle for support staff, Expect good rif in USA/INDIA/CHINA/JAPAN.
Or wait for the Q3 Results, Most of the senior staff will be canned I think .
Database aka Server technologies?
how big? 50%? 15%? 5%?
