Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Still not sure it's over

More like - still can't convince myself it's over, at least for now. I guess the last several months have really messed with me to the point that now I'm paranoid about layoffs. Yes, they announced it's over, but they also announced it would last two weeks... And that's all it takes to make me a nervous wreck.

Sad what this company turned me into.

It'll happen again before the end of 2019.

As long as Randy Mott is head of IT, it is guaranteed that layoffs will happen again. Ask any HPer that made this last cut. It one fell swoop, Randy instantly brought in HPs work culture of doom and gloom with this first round of cuts. HP was a horrible place to work because you never knew when another round was coming. Again, ask any HPer about what I just said.

GM will learn from this...

They are learning what the best way to target the older workforce 45+ that has devoted much of their careers to the success of the brand.

All in the name of short term gains to boost stock prices ( will drop back to 32 in a couple weeks)...

Working for the General will NEVER be the same after this purposely, painfully extended, sadistic Layoff Fiasco.

...rest assured, they are coming for more, there were 17000 of us that got the "invitation" to seperate. They want us all gone.

I'm with you. The lack of transparency in this process has made me very paranoid. I certainly hope GM learns from this. What a terrible way they did this.
