Optum leadership's 24-36 month roadmap is to offshore more than 60% of it's workforce-reducing domestic jobs. This job reduction will lower cost and enable Optum to meet budget requirements to compete with the mythical Amazon HealthCare announcement. So-you get to find another job after investing your heart and soul into a company that doesn't give a sh-- about YOU.

We have been told if we talk we lose our meager severance package. But we have seen over 1000 that I am aware of. Being done in waves to avoid reporting that will effect stock price.
To all posters: I'm a reporter and have been made aware of layoffs at Optum. I want to hear about your experiences. Please get in touch with me on Signal: 612-315-9971
Why don't we go and join Amazon HealthCare?
What buiilding? They started another round on 2/1?
This is 100% true; make no mistake, it's happening right now. My building just started a round of layoffs this morning out of nowhere, but the signs have been there and I expected it sooner or later. Between:
The multiple leadership changes at the top of the tree
The reshuffling of management
The push for automation
The constant reassurance that we wouldn't be "replaced" by it
The consolidation of workforce and removal of work from home flexibility
The hiring freeze
The sudden budget awareness
We all should have seen it coming. As of right now I've been told our department is safe, but I've already polished my resume, and I'm midway through a promising application process to another company. With the confirmation of this now present, I'm definitely going to be increasing my efforts 100-fold. I know for a fact, that "safe" status won't last forever. I feel for the employees that were just let go, and I wish them luck and a quick turn around going forward.
For my fellow surviving Optum employees: Those of you still on the fence about what's happening, wise up and start taking action now. I can only hope that this information reaches you in time.
This is true. Radio silence.
Team meetings occurring. Very little info being provided.
So much for compassion.
The word from friends who remain there is that it has been complete radio silence from leadership. Chickenshits can’t even talk to their people apparently.
Every large company has attempted to do this (outsource) and failed. It's cyclical. The jobs will eventually come back but it will be years and no one in the IT industry will want to work there. I have no faith in the mid-level management at Optum. Poor business decisions and no common sense - too many 'yes men'. if you are not an a-- kisser you have no place in this company.
"yeah any insurance company or health care company is the same." to a degree - yes. Not all insurance/health care companies are so blatant in treating people poorly, and most have an interest in keeping local community members employed.
I'd dare say most have learned the offshore lesson as well.....and only export non-essential positions.
optum s---s and will burn to the ground.
The idea that penny pinching your way to competing with companies like Amazon who are flush with cash is assanine. Amazon, if they decide to, will spend their way to beating UHG/Optum or any other Health company. Optum leadership is chasing a ghost and arming itself on a garage sale budget. Brilliant.
yeah any insurance company or health care company is the same.
