Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

It’s better to be mediocre

If you succeed at Lowe’s you will be under the microscope and everything you do is analyzed, causing you to get written up and terminated for not doing what you have done.

If you are mediocre and fly under the radar then no one will notice you and you can cruise through here.

We reward mediocrity. Don’t k--l yourself by over working and stressing out, be like the geriatric person in your store(probably works in tools and hardware), do half the IRPs, break 20 minutes before your shift is over, call in once a month, and fight people over employee ladders, don’t shoot for awards at meetings, hell don’t attend the meetings.

Find the hardest working person in your department and just one degree more than they do. That’s all Marvin wants, he said so. You’ll still be mediocre but the best mediocre in your department. No need to work hard while others hardly work.

Yes! The reasons to work hard are gone. The era of hard work being rewarded are over at Lowes.

The standard of excellence is so low that ants bump their heads on that bar.

Like I said more than a month ago, “Go do less”

It’s the new employee motto.

Very true, if one supervisor or manager tells another one you are working hard and dependable, you will start getting tasks from both of them. Once it spreads to store management they make you their go to person. That means they will dump lots of tasks on you and won’t want to promote you because that would make their own job more difficult. The only way working harder gets you promoted is if there are many hard working people in your store and they can replace a hard worker with another hard worker. The way they are cutting hours in many stores and with lots of freight. You shoot yourself in the foot by pushing yourself to the limits. They won’t give you a raise, because they are cutting payroll, they won’t promote you, because there is not replacement.
