Health care or should we say Wealth care will stay unchanged but with ridiculously high deductibles is sure to bankrupt any family using it. Wage increases of a mere 10% divided across the board for 5 years is not even close to the records profits, dividend payouts, non agreement bonuses that we have seen even in non record years. Maybe our Union's need to take a hit in their pocket books to wake up. Everyone call your union financial secretary and ask that the political contribution part of your dues be removed. This will cut your dues to Almost half. Company won't stick up for its employees, the unions won't stick up for its membership then its finally time that ALL class 1 railroad employee's stick up together and beat this need for greed campaign.

Good idea. Blame the unions. And dont take a leadership position or actively engage in labor issues. But dont offer a solution either. And expect that the lousy 90 bucks a month is enough to offset the $400 an hour paid to each member of hundreds of legal counsel and the millions spent on the "Labor Relations" dept that's bent on screwing every member over. It's easier to just sit home and point fingers.
I'll do as I'm told by the company,I'm a Yesman.
Protect two man crews. I recall last contracts mechanical was fighting for better raises and helatcare and transportation voted their contract through thus forcing mechanical to go along b/c transportation was afraid to lose two man crews. Better hope they don't offer mechanical huge raises with one man crews on your contracts s— if we repaid the solidarity.
Thank you kzw, I'm glad somebody understood the article and did their homework as well.
I hereby resign as a member of railroad union. My resignation is effective immediately. I will continue to meet my lawful obligation of paying a representation fee to the union under its "union shop" or "agency shop" agreement with Norfolk Southern Corporation. Furthermore, I object to the collection and expenditure by the union of a fee for any purpose other than my pro rata share of the union’s costs of collective bargaining, contract administration, and grievance adjustment, as is my right under Ellis v. BRAC, 466 U.S. 435 (1984). Pursuant to Chicago Teachers Union v. Hudson, 475 U.S. 292 (1986), I request that you provide me with my procedural rights, including: reduction of my fees to an amount that includes only lawfully chargeable costs; notice of the calculation of that amount, verified by an independent certified public accountant; and notice of the procedure that you have adopted to hold my fees in an interest-bearing escrow account and give me an opportunity to challenge your calculation and have it reviewed by an impartial decisionmaker. Accordingly, I also hereby notify you that I wish to authorize only the deduction of representation fees from my wages. If I am required to sign a new deduction authorization form to make that change, please provide me with the necessary form. Please reply promptly to my request. Any further collection or expenditure of dues or fees from me made without the procedural safeguards required by law will violate my rights under the Railway Labor Act and/or U.S. Constitution. Finally, please consider this objection to be permanent and continuing in nature. Sincerely yours, Union Member...
This is only the preliminary proposal. A "show of good faith" by the carrier that they want to work with us. Their first is always a slap in the face and like I'm sure we all know it wont be finalized until 2022 at best. So let's just worry about protecting 2 Man Crews and putting in all time claims. It's not going to get paid anyway is not an excuse. REPORT TECHNOLOGY FAILURES ON THE SMART WEBSITE!! Be governed accordingly
Yea. Be grateful you have a job. Most unskilled labor receives raises less than 1%. Were lucky to get 10% over 5 years and healthcare unchanged.
I believe I would be worried about having a job instead of a contract that's 4 to 6 years away, duh!
