I think that anyone who still believes that the leaders think that any of the schedule changes will contribute in any way to the company being more efficient is quite naive. The goal is nothing more than to drive the long-time employees out and then replace them with part-timers and cheap youngsters. If some of us in that process accepts to work in those conditions for little money, well that benefits them too. The only way we won't lose is if we hit the job market, the sooner, the better.
