I was a Union Pacific Carman with 8 years. This lay-off page looks identical to the UP one. I was laid off in January and have moved on to a better company that doesn’t try to write me up everyday for stupid sh– and threaten layoffs if we don't work faster. It’s not worth the BS they put you through. Find a new job and leave on your terms. Don’t let them control your future. I used to envy the guys that had twenty + years but now I feel bad for them because they feel like they are stuck being treated like sh– cuz they are close to retiring from a place they hate. The hump yard I was at was shut down and you now have to have 25yrs to be still working there as a Carman.

Hey I want my free paycheck
A lot of employee's won't leave because they feel they are entitled to a free pay check. At least that's the way it is on the mechanical side. Good article thank you for sharing.
