Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

The environment is as toxic as it gets

At least this is the case at my club, and I’ve been there for 10- years. There were some hard times, but never have I seen associates turning on each other in the way they do now. Is it the same mess at other locations ,as well?

I got kicked out of my position and yet I am now being told that not only do I need to continue to take responsibility for all those tasks that were taken from me but I have to take responsibility for things that a teamlead would without any support from management...worse I get constant pushback for things that need fixed. This morning I couldn't bite my tongue anymore and literally told another associate who said "I didn't do it, it's not my job"...."Well then by all means let me take care of all the things that aren't my job for you while you get to do the job that I got ripped away from" . So if that tells you anything

@2sxp spot on!
Not just bentonville... all regionals have the stench

"Sam Walton called the current brand of leadership based on fear and intimidation "chicken management". Toxic attitudes flow from the top to the bottom. The stench of Bentonville can probably be detected by underground sensors on Jupiter.

It is toxic, and stressful, no one likes coming to work anymore. The Mss got a bump in pay and now do so much less. They are always in groups chatting or sitting in groups in an office chatting. No help on the front end, fitst you have to find one, then they pass the call to someone not in that possition or pay grade. Members are noticing as well.... it is failing in a big way!!

I know what you mean. We had a market manager in health and wellness that specialized in intimidation and fear. The guy loved it. He reportedly smiled all the while he terminated a pharmacist for some perceived wrong to the company. He wasn't himself a pharmacist, but he had an internet MBA from an online school with accreditation problems and he was going to make sure we jumped when he said jump. He was all about letting us know he was our boss, no matter how unqualified he was to be in his role. He was a very toxic person and he created a very toxic atmosphere. His boss encouraged this behavior and was actually even more arrogant and condescending towards is charges. The rest of his klingon minions did his bidding out of fear. Fear and intimidation was and is the name of the game in this company. I'm glad I am out. Management no longer appreciates the fact that the member's loyalty is to the pharmacist and technicians that they deal with on a daily basis rather than to the company, and they wrongfully believe that fear and intimidation of their employees is the path to the company's success. Meanwhile, back in reality land, we all know that it is not.

Just a lot of gossip and talk about one another.all the MSS at our club have no clue how to answer associates questions except for the one trained to take over personnel responsibilities once
the one we had got booted out. Just doesn't have the title. Not to mention lazy as heck!! That's ok that's what the company wants. Is your M I T being trained by mgnt? Ours isn't just getting trained to stock from what we see. I'm sure they are learning something but now to the extent they should. Go to work do your job and gotta say dam easy job. Get paid darn good even with being maxed if that tells you something. As I see it they will find a way to dock the long term soon and be sneeky about it. Stay tuned, I know I'm rambling cause I'ma drinking! Daily now ugh

I don’t understand why we do not have people scheduled to work the memberships desk. They are always pulling people from other departments with no training at the desk. What good does that do if people don’t know what they are d. Just causes another problem.

Yeah , had an employee come up behind me while I was doing my job folding clothes & said in a rude tone at least I don't unfold & fold clothes all day walked away. If the store would have been closed I would of ripped her a new one. Went to my team lead about it & she had said something rude to another associate earlier so he had to take it to a manager and of course nothing happened because there smoking buddies. she walk's around all day long acting like she's busy , but everyone see's it.
