VSP over and done with.
Union EISP next??
VSP over and done with.
Union EISP next??
i doubt it would be the 10k dollar one. that would be a slap in the face after giving management that offer. it would be a waste of postage. nobody would take it. just by waiting until new year and vacations would almost add up to it. hardly worth taking it.
Yes. September is end of quarter hence they would be gone by October. Admittedly semantic, but nonetheless off payroll before October. I doubt there will be one this quarter as the paperwork would need to be in the mail within the next few weeks. It is more likely to be a fourth quarter event.
Heard from two sources that an isp is coming out in October. Not an eisp...its the smaller one..$10,000 plus $1100 per year. Not enough to get me to go. I’ll ride it out until the contract is up or they offer the eisp ($50,000 + $2200)....whichever comes first.
My group had an eisp in 2016. Paperwork sent out in August, off payroll in October.
There has never been an EISP in October. They have always been end of quarter.
Are we still on track for October??
@9ffi You are correct to a point You however are ignorant to the facts. We can be laid off just not involuntarily. When the company would like to layoff they are forced to offer the contractual EISP. When this happens the EISP money goes to the affected group members in order of seniority. They always have a surplus of takers, usually leaving a few disgruntled to wait for the next "Layoff".
If I had a dollar for everytime a union troll said in a layoff post "we can't be laid off it in our contract" I would be a millionaire. So an EISP is not a layoff.
Take it to the union board.
Neg. Just told 4th quarter
Any idea what month?
EISP to be offered 4th quarter
FYI- An EISP is related to a LAYOFF. Shedding jobs via packages reduces the odds of a layoff. The company needs to offer 3 packages (normal or enhanced) to keep the layoff option open at the end of the year.
Take your EISP discussion to the union board. This is a layoff board.
No wishing is needed as the offers are contractual. There will certainly be another EISP and very likely more than one before contract end. The subject of discussion is when?
Whats a "shine box"? Is that the box where union members drop in their EISP wish card?
Is life so boring for some of you that you have to post negative statements here to get entertainment or does it make you feel better about yourself?
3lrl....Verizon paid for my MBA. I think I have surpassed a one syllable word 😉
Yes go ahead and call Hans and beg for your entitled handout in Sweedish! But union people can barely form single syllable words so speaking a second language is impossible.
your wife says that to everybody
Will someone just call Hans please?
My wife says I have a nice package
Do you have proof??
Eisp is coming in oct, nice package
Captain Obvious here , when they " 1st get rid of the "old union people " who are the majority of the union work force " then the young pups will have to fend for themselves . They will then learn how to fight like the "old union people" did and either sink or swim. Unfortunately NOTHING IS WON without a fight.
It isn't game over for anyone who did the right thing.
Most I know are just padding their accounts. In response to the naysayers that say "if you are so wealthy why not leave now? " my response is it would be foolish to turn down another five to six hundred grand of wages plus whatever extra OT and K-plan match that will come during the contract. As far as medical goes I have plenty to cover my needs till Medicare eligibility. I also doubt there is much warranted concern about coverage in retirement but agree one would be foolish to not account for its possibility. If it where to be dropped how would one be any worse of than the non represented? Even one year of coverage is more than they get, let alone years on end. In response to the person stating retirees in the past got guaranteed for life benefits that has not been the case since I believe the group that left in 1991, so ever since then it has been an ongoing battle.
@1nfx : I am one of those old union guys and I wouldn’t say game over , but I agree about newbies not giving a sh– about striking for sh– they don’t have . The company knows that too . And medical is only good till the next contract negotiations . Previously guys got medical for life .
Hmm, how do we get rid of this boat anchor that keeps dragging down earnings?

Being serious here..telecom landlines are finished. FIOS is done. They will drop off wireless hubs and offer access to consumers. Wake up people...
Next is the sale or wireline.
Game over because the newbies do not have the same benefits as the "old union people ". When the company decides at some point to say take medical away from retirees, do you think the newbies will vote to strike for benefits they themselves don't or won't get.
How is it game over? We’ve already made our money. The only thing that would still tie is to the company would be medical insurance. The newer union people are not going to do anything to hurt retiree medical as they will be retired one day. There is a lot of jealousy and anger from people who are not union. If the eisp doesn’t affect you, why comment? You’ve made your bed, now sleep in it.
No SH*T Captain Obvious. But for that to happen, they must 1st get rid of the "old union people " who are the majority of the union work force. Once that happens and the newbies with no pensions are the majority its game over for the union.
The union is set through 2023. There will also a one percent pension increase every year. Stay and make money or go sooner with an EISP and make money , the only ones that lose are the whinners.
The union will not get any offer. The newer union people will settle for less than union is used to and sell the old union people down the drain
Wireless will be online sales....more management rifs to come. If they want to get union people off of the payroll, they WILL offer an eisp. Just a matter of time.
No money for Union. You guys made all that overtime. Question why are so many repairs sent to cable when no one has a copper line anymore?
You guys will go when AOL buys wireline
Rumor in NY, management buyout offer was completed in June. Next buyout will be for landline workers. We hear it’s a good offer to get us off the payroll. Let’s hope

Newest rumor get rid of up to 20,000 by years end and merge with Disney. They keep getting better.
