Seems like L3 and Harris had a lot of overlap in this area. Anyone know of any coming layoffs or locations being moved? Any affecting California?

Ocean System in Sylmar Ca is closing Union Reps are just sitting on their a– and not doing anything for "us" union members to cope with this News about shutting down this facility great job L3 Harris what a team.
Ocean Systems to close shop in Sylmar. Announcement was made yesterday. Work will be relocated to areas outside of California.
Hope not just got a job there.
yep, that is how it will be done. Excelis was just a dry run. Same exact plan here - close and consolidate like mad, lay-off like crazy, and cheer all the cost cutting and savings.
Here is the article I mentioned to you..
Exclusive: Aerospace manufacturer to shut down Morgan Hill facility
In efforts to consolidate operations, defense contractor Harris Corp. is closing its manufacturing plant in Morgan Hill and laying off employees there.
if you google it you will find that Harris closed an Exelis facility in California a couple of years ago. It happened right after Exelis acquisition. 50 Exelis employees were laid off. We found out about it only after it was reported by a local newspaper.
300-400 locations nation-wide. Bill Brown was referencing it prior to L3 merger. Imagine how many more locations they've got now? In his view, it was way too many. They claim that in the next year or two - they can save up to $1B or $2B dollars by consolidating operations. The current trend for defense companies is to take business out of California. The most recent example is rockwell collins facility in CA closure by UTC...

Overlap in the area of Maritime Sensors, part of the new org on the Business Navigator from the new L3Harris Nexus website.
Looks like there's incoming Harris companies that do the same thing in that area. Makes me wonder if the California locations will be moved elsewhere due to the rising cost of business there.

What do you mean 350 - 400 L3 locations in California? There's only about 30 L3 divisions overall.
Seems like they had a lot overlap in what area?
correct. Way too many locations. Going to SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the number of facilities. Going to just close and move a ton of work and take all the cost savings from less mgt, less admin, less support, all in some cheap locations - not expensive places like CA. One might be offered option to move with the work. Probably not. Total cost cutting focus.
We will all see how “equal” this merger turns out to be.
Most likely locations in California will be closed. Bill Brown was saying in a meeting that they've got presence in ~350 or 400 locations, - too many for a company.. The plan is to consolidate them to optimize company costs and resource.
