Ok, im gonna stop you right there. Your probrably right now thinking to yourself that your voice is finally being heard and UP is being exposed to the public and your Union is finally stepping up. Well your dead wrong. All you Carman know dam well youve been highballing trains for years, giving mediocre inspections at best, and nothing catastrophic has ever resulted in your less than zero inspections. Now all the sudden its a problem because there dismantling your craft? And you think your union leader is going to go on television and stick his neck out for you all the sudden, when he cant even return a phone call for a minor grievence? . I invite you to take a much harder look into yourself and your surroundings to discover what is really going on. Alot more cuts are coming, UP has predicted low q2 earnings, it can now get down to the meat and potatoes and gut the company to justify the low earnings. Wake up, your a fool if you think this is going to smooth out for you and your craft. Your union president just put the last nail in the coffin for you.

We don't maintain 200+ bad orders in Bailey Yard because we highball trains... We bad order about 100 cars per day and release about 100 cars per day, with an exceptionally low bad order dwell time. Sounds like you're talking about some of the outlying points that send us their c-ap because they are too scared to bad order a car because they don't want their point wiped from the map. Come to North Platte, and you'll see some of the best inspections given. We move freight, safely.

Absolutely. To criticize by stating mediocre generalizations of the the Carmen craft as a whole is nothing short of a raving effort to show one's total ignorance. BTW, you DID suceed in doing so who ever you are.
The location I know of and am a part of has over the years plugged up the whole yard due to legitimate BO counts. The FRA would literally camp out for days and praised the locations Carmen for great inspections. Is that consistent at all locations? Ahhh, NO of course not. Now, the FRA is basically looking the other way as their efforts to regulate have suddenly disappeared. Odd how this all seemed to happen as soon as PSR was initiated.
It's not rocket science that the rail industry has needed improvements for the glass palace down. In my 40 years, I've never seen so many people quitting, laid off and off work on disability or stress. Am I surprised? That would be a NO! This industry and the lack of it's efficiencies have been non existent for 150 years, and it will always be about the mighty stockholders. Nothing more, and yes, that includes SAFETY! Once they get their automated car inspection scanners going it's just a matter of time before the fra gives them a waiver and we are all out of a job
Pretty soon they are going to be autonomous trains and they will only need carman to make line of road repairs.

Maybe you've been high balling trains your whole career, the guys I work with get in trouble for finding too much, doing the correct repairs. So save your "I did it, so everyone else must have done it" c-ap.
Your right on the union aspect but to say ALL carmen haven't been high balling trains and giving mediocre inspections is not correct. Believe it or not some of us do the job the right way...
