Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Big changes coming?

I keep hearing there will be big changes in August, and people are being very tight-lipped about it. Anyone know what it is?

  1. Marvin is stepping down as CEO to be replaced with someone who knows how to lead.
  2. FSA is going away; responsibility for cleaning the rest rooms will be delegated down to cashiers many of whom will quit because they have to clean toilets.
  3. Millennials will be paired up with senior citizens the perfect combination of brawn and brains.
  4. Department supervisors will be replaced with Cylons (google or youtube to learn more).
  5. Marvin will announce that he really still works for Home Depot and has been on a covert mission to destroy Lowe's from the inside.

Considering Marvin thought it was a good idea to wipe out a majority of LP who knows what the hell he is deciding next lol. A majority of stores are seeing stuff being stolen left and right. Managers don't care because they already have tons to do and Marvin seems to think that is a good idea? He brought back some of the people that catch the shoplifters but still does not believe in having an LP manager in all stores? Really?

Hi. Uhmm....yes. I’d like a low paying part time job with odd schedules and disrespectful managers. Sure, you can split my schedule. Yes yes I’ll open in the morning, go home at noon and come back at six to close. Six days of work for 29 hours? Why not. Anything for Marvin.

Every none management employee making over $15 will be either managed out or laid off by the end of this fiscal year.

If the $15 minimum wage goes through, the only employees you will see is Max and Rosie from The Jetsons.

I’m guessing at some point they will eliminate most specialist positions. In some stores these are some of the highest paid people. We’ve got two in our store here that make around $25.00/hr. We are headed to a majority part-time work force in the stores—that’s what the company wants.

Return of Asset Protection to overhaul safety and shrink that has fallen by the wayside since February during Turtle's brilliant idea of eliminating the department.

we have a major reset going on for 2 weeks now. tool world overhaul, and now they have removed every desk station along w/ chairs and computers. fashion plumbing, electrical, flooring, etc.. no more desks chairs, or even pc's.

ive seen a boat load of FT'ers quit over the past 6 months, and have NOT been replaced at all ..

self service monitors and touch screens will be put in place of work stations where customers can shop themselves. no more sales associates. hell, we have 1 per dept now and thats prob an over estimate!

its time everyone looks elsewhere. its over for lowes. customers leaving in droves. current leadership doersnt see the value in customer service, and that "smart" and customer focus stuff they push is all lies when tyhey dont staff, nor care to follow up on any of it. we have legions of customer ccic's daily complaining and no one cares.

get what you can now. grab what u can, do nothing, let it all fail, then get a severance and leave if not before. its over for lowes. im on ny border of nj.

Whatever they are, you can bet the ranch it will involve reduction to in-store staffing and probably programs of one kind or another—like maybe installed sales as we currently know it.

There are whispers that the installation projects (PSE included) will all be direct through the contractors, sent to the store, then marked up by any willing and able employee to sell the “installation”

My prediction: Less staffing, more freight = even more nightmarish store conditions. Customer service will continue to suffer as well.

Thanks Marvin

I could see them eliminating an ASM position in each store and possibly combining RTM and receiving clerk positions.

We were told one change is after each full time person quits/leaves they will be replaced with part time only. No specs on any positions that were exempt.

There are always rumors of Big Change at the end or beginning of a Quarter.
August is the start of Q3.

One rumor I saw is that Sterling will be going away, with "improvements" in Genesis implemented.

Be rest assured...more cuts are coming, along with what Lowe's calls restructuring. However; it is common practice with a corporation that is so disconnected as Lowe's.
