Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Any more reorgs in 2019?

Seems to me it’s been quiet for some time now. I find it hard to believe that we could reach the end of the year without any reorgs at the company, even though I really hope that I’m mistaking. Has anyone heard anything about any further reorgs or any sort of shifts at the company that could occur in the near future?

@108ONXHi-3fju Never. Executives don't consider the current situation a train wreck. Only those of us living it do.

The fallout from the mass IT reorg/outsourcing is exactly what one would imagine. The "KT" to Infosys was a joke ("Please summarize what you have learned from 20+ yrs with the company and pass it along to this completely green stranger.") There re application outages that last for days or weeks because all the knowledge has left the building. Those few knowledgeable people who did not take the severance package are being pushed to their limits and beyond by a new management chain that is still getting its legs under it. There is much blame and little cooperation. I wish I had taken the severance package.

Yes. Every Thursday from now until eternity. Some big, some small. Some you will hear about, most you won't.

And now you are Up To Speed.

That’s the issue. VZ 2.0 is about people hanging on for a paycheck. Sad. The VSP was the best thing for me. Making more and happy now. Hopefully you folks get another opportunity and can take advantage. I feel for those I left behind in IT

There was just a recent reorg in HR , which included a change of power at the top.

@OP

  • and if you knew about any re-orgs, what would you do?

Nothing in all likelihood. The pay and the benefits are so good nearly everyone would ride it out, hoping to see if they survive or to see where they can survive.

I don’t think why are even done yet with the 2.0 shakeout. I’m sure they’ll throw some small ones in there but probably be bad form to throw it all away at once unless they can find something in the market to blame.

Enjoy it while it lasts. No need to get stressed thinking about it. No one is going to tell you that you are safe for X years/months
