Huawei is abiding by the CA WARN act and they've already notified some employees about getting laid off. Severance package is pretty solid; not great but not bad either.

Looks like 70% of the US R&D groups (across all campuses in the US).

groups either gone or smaller, much less work done, all bans disputes still in place not getting less, just matter of time huawei america is entirely dismissed?

With team at Huawei USA, they argued that they don’t need to follow WARN for two months. So that employees in these areas are screwed with two weeks notification and no paid Cobra for extra two months. Talking about what a proper plan to move them out if Futurewei just months ago.

Almost nobody lasts more than 2 - 3 years at Futurewei. That means severance package is 6-7 weeks of pay. Pitiful compared to places like EMC or Dell. Good luck looking for a job with Huawei as a last employer.

Are they providing any kind of support as part of the package? My last company gave me a program through an outplacement company, hoping we get that again.

@2phw, the package is you're on payroll (with health care, 401K vesting, etc.) for 60 days. This is because of California law. So for 60 days, you are as if you are still working and receiving a paycheck.

After 60 days, you are officially terminated. You get a severance package. It's 4 weeks minimum. You get an additional week for every 1 year you worked. So someone with 5 years at Huawei would get 4+5 (9) weeks total.

Not bad, better than the packages at EMC or Dell. I'm kinda surprised a Chinese company was this generous.
